Honda Legend Projects or Purchase Suggestions "LINKS”

I suspect it's been owned by someone from the USA recently so even if it has been serviced, i doubt it will have been done properly. Also they don't seem to be too bothered by cars, apart from those who have their own US spec cars, the others treat them as "disposable" sadly only doing bare minimum maintenance.

While it may look like a nice car, i suspect it will need some TLC in all the important areas.

Hmmm...rather cunningly the number plate isn't clear so unable to check MOT history either.  As you say Dave, if it's in Lakenheath (at a secret location ), then it's probably owned by an airman.  Perhaps more digging is required, even a phone call asking for more pics?  ;)  The front bumper looks damaged but it could be the light.

See what you mean about the bumper Geoff, looking at the main photo i think i know where it is and in fact i saw one out of the corner of my eye the other day as i flew past. If i get 10 minutes tomorrow, i'll whizz up there and have a better look. :ph34r:B)

My guess was correct about the "secret location" - not so secret at all, on the A1056 coming from Fiveways Roundabout (where the A11 and A1065 meet near Mildenhall) about a mile from the roundabout on the left, heading towards Brandon.

The bumper does have a bit of minor cosmetic damage, the chrome has gone crinkly. Also has the remains of a headlight beam diverter on the drivers side lens but as far as i can tell, both headlamps are Left Hand Dip so ok for UK use.

Other than that and what i call a "bullet hole dent" in the bootlid, it seems pretty spotless all round.

Looks like it's been fairly well looked after, rear tyres looked new (but cheap!), fronts not so good but passable. Most of the glass is heavily tinted so looks a bit of a "pimp-mobile"! ;):D

Could have been Dave, however, raises a few questions as to why the owner hasn't had it MOT'd for 3 months, especially when he's trying to sell it and it's advertised as having 12 months MOT too.  In these days of instant online MOT checking, perhaps he's hoping no-one will check and get it MOT'd when he has a buyer?  Even on trade plates the car has to be MOT'd i.e road legal...surely??

There's something fishy going on here me thinks, my Spidy senses are tingling....

I suspect it will have the 12 moths MoT on purchase, a common motor trade ploy. Trade plates are used by the trade to move vehicles that don't necessarily have any MoT or tax (in the old days when tax stayed on a vehicle) as often vehicles are bought at auction and need to be driven for MoT etc or like above, no MoT and the seller isn't going to MoT it until he has a signed sales order and by the same token, having 20 cars sat on the lot all with road tax isn't good business sense especially if he only sells say 8 a month, that's a lot of money just wasting away.

It also means the mechanic working at your local garage can pick your car up when it's run out of MoT for whatever reason and drive it legally on trade plates to the garage, repair it, take it for MoT and return it to you. There are a few drawbacks to using trade plates - they're not cheap for a start but are cheaper than a dozen cars sitting round doing nothing while fully taxed and tested. They also can't be used for private use, unless the user is a sole trader and is bringing a car for business purposes from one place to another.

I'm not sure if the seller has trade plates but he does have premises. Not sure which of these is selling this car as it appears in neither of their stock lists :

That said, the first car in the second ones list is parked next to it! ;)

Just just been told by a close friend that he is considering selling his beloved Legend.....I'm absolutely gutted and if I had a garage I'd consider it!

You would need to drive it to believe how solid and smooth it is. Just needs a very slight spruce up on the bumpers, one of the doors and the wheels need refurbishing.

If anyone is interested in owning her I will tell him to offer you first refusal as and when he sells. I know it will go to a good home if a forum member buys it.

Thanks guys!

Price has not been discussed and I'm sure he will be clearer after he has completed the work(which may make him reconsider keeping her or me owning her:)

Red is definitely not the best colour for me, I could write a book with the misfortune I've had with red cars! :o Looks nice though but I have to say I'm not a fan of two-tone colour schemes, perhaps on a vintage Rolls-Royce but it's horses for courses then.

Also slightly scared by the low mileage - has it just been cosseted and only used once in a while or has it done loads of very short journeys all with cold starts?

I did chuckle at this comment buddy, but didn't you say disliked the coloured bumpers on the SLi you had for a short while and preferred the two tone on your other two Rovers

There's a big difference between black body-length rubbing strips and painting the bumper tops to match (as per the OE spec) and painting half the bottom of the car in a totally different colour Stu! ;):D

When Rover first launched the 800, a lot of cars had "Stonechip Grey" below the rubbing strips, some had a a darker, more metallic grey, like graphite metallic with "Vitesse" or "Sterling" graphics on them in the area under the rubbing strip on the doors. Then on the Mk2b (96 on) they tried reintroducing the "Duotone" colour scheme - none of them looked particularly good or were popular.
