Founding Member Cryistic Posted February 12, 2015 Founding Member Report Share Posted February 12, 2015 Is this the best colour Honda ever made a Legend in? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271768234211?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Wheels would have to go....... Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted February 12, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted February 12, 2015 Don't let Jim see that! He loves 800s in Nightfire Red and that's the Honda version with a 3.5 V6 under the business end! Methinks it could cause a divorce!
Founding Member Cryistic Posted February 26, 2015 Founding Member Report Share Posted February 26, 2015 Gentlemens Coupe in a fetching shade of JRG. Crap ad though http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1994-HONDA-LEGEND-AUTO-SILVER-/301541982771?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item46354d8233
Administrators hughezee Posted February 26, 2015 Author Administrators Report Share Posted February 26, 2015 Unusual colour that one with all the extra body trim by the looks of it, agreed the advert needs more info
Founding Member Cryistic Posted February 26, 2015 Founding Member Report Share Posted February 26, 2015 Red "H" badges as well, cant understand why people do it. It's about as classy as putting an M-Sport badge on a 116d.
Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted February 27, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted February 27, 2015 Out of interest, given the year etc shouldn't the engine capacity read 3206cc and not 3602cc? Also confused about the colour - the listing says silver but it looks pale green to me?

Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted March 2, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted March 2, 2015 He obviously had taste once to buy a Legend but he's owned it 18 months and fitted the new alloys 9 months back and new tyres 18 months ago. I wonder who butchered what appears to be a Lincoln bonnet mascot into a Honda "double-crosswire" and sprayed it gold before gluing it to the bonnet? Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted April 11, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted April 11, 2015 Quite tempting as an ongoing project : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Legend-/151639087843?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item234e64dae3 Quite a good price but has cosmetic problems. "Private" plate might be worth almost the purchase price though!

"Private" plate might be worth almost the purchase price though! Hmmm, interesting Dave. The plate looks like it's worth the purchase price like you say although the ad doesn't say that the plate is included. Not sure of the age but it's got a cassette player! No mention of mileage, servicing, etc and the problem with the steering sounds like £££ to fix, then again it could just need to PAS fluid change? It's £299 for a reason me thinks.
Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted April 11, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted April 11, 2015 Very true Geoff - it doesn't say the plate isn't included though. The PAS could simply be a loose belt and only noticed on right hand lock as they don't turn left on full lock very often. High mileage at 188472 miles though but if the engine is quiet then that shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps the value of the "non-minters" has dropped while the nice ones still command good money? Similar happened with the 800 a few years back, now even the rough ones are going for good money so maybe there are some ex-800 owners moving onto the Legend now as a viable alternative to a 75 or other similar modern machinery. Apparently it has a CD changer in it as well as the radio-cassette which for 1996 was pretty good kit.
Founding Member Mazda Man Posted April 11, 2015 Founding Member Report Share Posted April 11, 2015 Yes, agreed, back in them days a CD changer was coveted (as was leather etc) and shows how good the Legends were even back then. I've always liked the Legend, I know Stu likes them too. You get a lot of motor for your money, still prefer the Coupe though.
Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted April 11, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted April 11, 2015 Back then in-car CD players were still new - the CD system had only been on the market officially since June 1986 in the format we know it. The Rover Sterling, like the Legend got a 6-disc changer mounted in the boot and as you say, things like leather, electric windows, Climate Control etc were all status symbols back then. Now they're on even the most basic of cars

Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted April 11, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted April 11, 2015 Was just thinking - if that Vigor/Inspire had been produced by Ford in the 70s it would have been a Cortada and would no doubt now have a cult following. It would be an even deeper money-pit though as all the parts would be subject to the dreaded "Blue Oval Tax" - a self-imposed surcharge Ford owners seem willing to pay for parts for their cars. Isn't marketing an amazing tool?

Founding Member Cryistic Posted April 12, 2015 Founding Member Report Share Posted April 12, 2015 There are plenty of insurers that will cover grey imports, you can probably get that on Classic insurance as well as it's over 20 years old, just gotta hunt around chaps.
Founding Member Mazda Man Posted April 12, 2015 Founding Member Report Share Posted April 12, 2015 Great stuff. That could be addition to the Member Services Topic Stu, perhaps a list of insurers that we all use, contact numbers etc and also other more specialist insurers too for these grey imports, classic cars perhaps?
