Well my renewal for my coupe came in at an acceptable £224 on classic insurance 👍

That is relatively expensive taken that you managed to insure the Oddy for less than my Elysion...I would have thought that it would have been cheaper than that?

Who is that with on classic?

Zenith Marque - Cherished Car Insurance with an agreed value too, good value IMO, the odyssey is on specialist insurance with all the things use it for as well, work stuff, off-road, towing soon, so many exclusions on standard policies these days.

Insurance time again !

Wondering whether I should bother, off the road, mot expired now and renewal just come in at £164, General Accident, which is same as Chrismas got for his last year.

Don't see why the insurance has gone UP ten quid this year, they are trying it on...cv19, less miles done by everyone nearly, less risk, what's the problem?

Have to set the old search machine off again...

Result tonight !

I noticed the Performance direct quote had upped the voluntary excess to 250 quid...plus 250 on the compulsory to total £500 in all AND just 3000 miles usage.

So I adjusted the voluntary down to zero where it was last year with GA...leaving just 250 compulsory.

Ran the quotes again and the Performance direct quote went up to a heady £128.95 ! 😛

Interestingly though, they then dropped into second place behind the RAC !! £123.60..unlimited miles and a Shell voucher for £20 AND free legals too !!

So I signed up with the RAC this year, net premium of £103.60............ 😇 !!

It is, and not checked it against anything else yet. Got just over a month to go.

Thing is with those comparison sites. The adverts drive me nuts so as a matter of principle I'd swerve them 😅

True but only whilst you are checking, I don't get bombarded by any comparison sites after the event...

Just that sometimes there are deals to be had, like the twenty quid of free fuel I got !!!

You could ring Peter James and Footman James, both good usually,  got my TVR 4.6 V8 with Footman at £140 if I recall,  Motorcycles with Peter James, also, maybe Flux direct, Triumph TR8 at £57 !!!!

None on comparison sites so no hassle really.

Well, here we are again, Coupe insurance time, renewal received to the day against last year !

I went with the RAC last year at £123 plus a 20 quid fuel voucher via confused.com.

Renewal notice from RAC this morning ......£187  ......wtf !!!!!

Plus I still have to "add" my none fault accident with the Elysion  !!!!!

Once again into the insurance fray  !!!!

Had something similar once I added a non fault accident.  Price upped as I "drove in riskier areas"....  no doubt that would hold true if a bit fell off a passing aircraft onto my car whilst driving in the least populated and visited area of the Gobi desert....

Any excuse to take more money in.  Didn't work with me either, i switched insurer then and would do again.

Hmm, turn up for the book....

Used Confused again as they are offering 20 quid vouchers .

Best of the crop £128 with Performance Direct, trading name of Grove and Dean I think?

Plus 20 quid voucher....

Went onto Money Supermarket,  £111, with.............Performance Direct  !!! Plus upto £150 vouchers for various things like mot, brake pads, servicing, tyres.....

Can't be bothered with anymore searches, so going with 111 quid quote, includes legal,  windscreen,  courtesy car etc but not recovery.   Comprehensive obviously,  no fault accident declared.

Just waiting on a call from performance direct to confirm cover now.

As an aside managed to get the TR7 V8 cover at just 2 quid more when accident added.

Still pi$$£$ me off that I am getting penalised because of someone elses  inattentiveness. 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Among other things, i've recently been helping a friend sort a few things out including her insurance renewal. Last year her premium was £236 and the "invited" renewal at (allegedly £60 cheaper than last year) was £290.

Through various comparison sites got it down to ~£220 with one of two places. First was Ageas at £218, next was Sainsburys Bank at £220. Looking into the basic policy benefits, the Sainsburys one was better as it provided a higher amount on key cover and also personal accident benefits and one or two other things with the same excesses and all other things the same.

She eventually decided on Sainsburys, got the online portal up once she'd bought the policy and the underwriter was............................. Ageas! :o

Definitely pays to shop around, i probably don't shop around as much now as i've been with Lancaster for many years now and they always seem to come out the best on price for the same policies.

Looks like Performance Direct is using Ageas too !!!!!!...

Just discovered the RAC policy is on auto renewal,  sure I took that off last year....

Anyway logged on to the RAC site, can't change to no auto renewal online because the renewal has already been issued !!! Avin a larf  !!

Used " contact us " button, up came the autobot question...asked it for the email address....err,  nope but you can live chat or phone us...

OK, live chat...... message comes up to say there are no operators available....no queueing,  just NO !!

Right oh, call them on 0330 number...type in your policy number, bloody long one !, date of birth, very old,  and your postcode numbers...30 second spiel about the legals, using your credit reference, checking with your mother if you are old enough etc etc, plus legal....altogether now taken 3 minutes 30 seconds.

Then I get the music on hold, " we value your call" shit...no you don't otherwise you would have answered.

Finally get to speak to someone who wants to renew my policy !!! NO, NO  !!! Just turn off the auto renewal please.....total on call time 9 minutes 45 seconds.....all because their system will not allow you to toggle the off button because the renewal has been issued....one month before the actual date !!!

RAC,  IT system ????   FAIL, FAIL, FAIL, FAIL.....🤪🤪🤪🤪

Sadly very common Pete, my friend mentioned above was with Admiral and had exactly the same problem.

Often you'll find when you renew the policy, it automatically engages the auto-renew next year thing and you don't get a choice in it, just click to acknowledge you're read that bit! :o

I paid £168 with Churchill last year. Ohhh yes......

Thought that was pretty good. I remember when I was selling car insurance for the Co-op Ins many years ago, that insurers look favourably on second cars, which mine is. It's still got a 5,000 mile limit, bit of business use ,wife driving as well, and not even full NCD either. But I stand the chance of them paying market value if i wreck it though. My age helps!! (late 50s ish)😁
