That's probably about right for that one, it's the KV6 powered beastie so not as sought after as the Honda V6 and therefore not as high on the price. I wonder if the cam belts were done at 80k or whether they will need doing ASAP?

And yes, it is a Sterling! ;):D

That's a very old advert! Check the SORN/MoT date, as far as i know that car went to the car park in the sky a few years back :o;):D

Dont understand what you mean, yes it has no mot but it is still taxed until March this year, in vehicle enquiry on dvla.

Yet the advert shows sorn / mot  2014? So tried to sell previously maybe but the fact is the car is taxed till March? ? !!

Mileage doesn't tally , 75k on mot  in 2015,  44k on advert.

That's very odd! I tried buying that car when it was first advertised on the Rover forum some 3 ish years back and was told it had been scrapped. Here's the original sales thread on the Rover forum :

http://rover800.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=11472

As you can see, there wasn't a terrific amount of interest and when i decided to go after it, i was told it had been scrapped due to lack of interest.

If you check through the MoT history there's a hiatus during 2014 where it wasn't MoT'd for a while, i suppose what could have happened is either the original seller sold it for scrap, the person who bought it then returned it to the road and then copied the advert recently - it would explain the mileage. Alternatively the original seller may have just changed his mind and kept it.

It's still tempting at that price but after my experience last time i won't be at the front of the queue! ;):D

At the time i first looked at it i was thinking of it for my "Galactic Dawn" Project, since then i've looked at many others and i eventually decided to change things a little and use the one i already have and would have been keeping anyway. That's the main reason i remember it so well.

I still think it's an odd advert, for example not updating the MoT due date, mileage etc. ;):D

Yet another early (although Mk2) Rover 827 has surfaced from the murky depths of oblivion!

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201702222570162?sort=price-asc&model=800&make=ROVER&advertising-location=at_cars&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&postcode=hr96dd&radius=1500&page=1

http://pictures2.autotrader.co.uk/imgser-uk/servlet/media?id=2ffca77420b6452fbf827553f44bf052

According to a well-informed source on the 800 forum, that's the original number plate, built July 1992 and oddly has the standard stereo in it rather than the "Premium" Clarion system and there is no MoT history on the car, the DVLA site shows no record for the car so presumably it last changed owners before 2001 and has been off the road for most of the time since.

Would have liked to see some underbonnet shots and also the boot too. ;):D

Another possible project for someone - very tempted myself but not sure if i can divert the funds as yet :

Basically Rovers version of the Civic Aerodeck 1600 complete with towbar and autobox - very useful small estate! Pretty presentable apart from the back ends of each sill which will be an MoT item.

Bought a J reg saloon version of this some years back for my (now ex-) wife to learn to drive in. Went like stink for a 1600! ;):D

Does this get taxed at the plus 1600 cc rate just like the Civic ? If so, real bummer!

Dont like the seller "non ramble" !!! The whole advert rambles over the same ground.

Also, correct me if I am wrong but an abs light is an mot failure. ...on since 2009 ...really??

It would do, yes so will be £220 a year or whatever it is this week.

It will need a drivers door locking motor (button needs easing my ar5e!) and while you have the door card off, renew the window mount - it's like an "ear" with a groove in it to hold the glass, the ear bolts to the window reg and the groove that holds the glass breaks.

It is an MoT failure for the light being on but it is perfectly possible it has passed with no problem. Very often when a sensor fails it doesn't show as a fault at the self-test procedure which happens when the car is first started so the ABS light comes on with ignition and then goes out a few seconds later. When the car is driven on the road and speed exceeds about 10mph then the duff sensor shows up by not giving an output. That's when the ABS light will come on. The ultimate answer is renew the sensor :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371033272993?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I'm pretty sure that fits the 89-96 2/400 range as well as the later ones, it certainly works on the 800 series. :P

It could also be the sensor needs cleaning and that will cure it.

If that's all that's wrong with it then it's not a bank-breaking list and in the great scheme of things, worth doing. Just looked at the MoT history and apparently it did fail for the ABS light in March 2013 :

Now you mention it I recall having a problem with a nineties aerodeck sensor and that did the same, looked ok when stationary but came on at about 7mph if I recall correctly,,,turned out to be a wheel sensor as you say.  I know that sometimes the mot brake tester machinery can activate the light and at that point the tester can do an " on the road test" apparently. ... have to check that detail with my mot man....

What bugs me is the number  of times these mot reports show up tyres that are worn to hell and back...not just this car but loads of them, does nobody check their tyres anymore?

Very true Pete but a lot of them can't be bothered so they put it down to the fact two wheels aren't turning but the other two are so the ABS system throws a fault when in fact there isn't one.

I've also triggered the ABS warning light because of wheelspin for a similar reason. ;):D
