Administrators hughezee Posted September 3, 2014 Administrators Report Share Posted September 3, 2014 Painted these wheels a little while ago now, back garden special and had nothing but compliments so I thought I would share a few pic's I wasn't to keen on silver so I painted them black surprisingly they make the car handle a little sweeter as well
blackstreet62
so how did you get them to that stage? there look bad in black (bad is good!!) ?
Founding Member Mazda Man Posted April 5, 2015 Founding Member Report Share Posted April 5, 2015 Yep, black wheels do look the part Edwin, especially on Stu's car (Flex) as it's a light colour which complements the dark wheels. They do indeed look 'bad'.

Lots and lots of back breaking prep to get the old paint off will get wheels acid dipped or shot blasted next time
Founding Member Mazda Man Posted April 6, 2015 Founding Member Report Share Posted April 6, 2015 You could use my wife's tea instead of acid dripping, it will do the same job!!!
Administrators hughezee Posted March 31, 2017 Author Administrators Report Share Posted March 31, 2017 Davanti's fitted and decided to give the wheels a quick spruce up, not a proper refurb but still sanded back to bare metal

Founding Member PaulS Posted April 2, 2017 Founding Member Report Share Posted April 2, 2017 Not sure I would have chosen black - my old steel wheels from my Merc are black....., but they look well done. Did you just spray them, or powder coat them?
Founding Member Mazda Man Posted April 2, 2017 Founding Member Report Share Posted April 2, 2017 They look coolio now they're back on Flex Stu, the Hinda wheels were too Ford Probe for my liking and at 16" are too small, in my opinion. The black ones look

Hi Paul I can see your point but the way I look at is, take dark coloured car with dark wheels probably wouldn't look good and if compared with one with light wheels but on the other hand, a silver car with silver wheels could get away with it very nicely. However when I purchased the wheels obviously they weren't black but looked horrible on my gold car and the car they were indented for was never available in gold. Gold is funny colour, especially with wheels designs and that's why I went with the two-tone appearance i.e black bonnet and spoiler so the wheels followed suite. I put some other wheels on temporarily whilst I was painting the these and in all honesty, it made the car look dated, even family & friends even commented on how bad they looked compared to the others and I agreed whole heartedly with them. FYI I used spray cans and the original job (pictured above) lasted 3+ years so happy with that as I've spent enough at the body shop lately.
Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted April 2, 2017 Moderators Report Share Posted April 2, 2017 Are the wheels black Stu or something like Anthracite/nearly black? Tricky to tell on my monitor.

Founding Member AhsyV6 Posted April 3, 2017 Founding Member Report Share Posted April 3, 2017 Stu what a difference between the black and silver wheels......so agree with your choice to go with black.....a totally different car and the name "Flex" totally suits black wheels.
