Shaun
Do you get insurance loading on this because it's an import? I had a Toyota Hilux Surf years ago and because it was an import the insurance was horrendous, 3 x dearer than the 2.9 Scorpio Cosworth I had before it 😀 1
Moderators PTR200S Posted June 20, 2019 Author Moderators Report Share Posted June 20, 2019 Unfortunately not many insurance companies either know about an Elysion much less attempt to insure it by referring to the underwriters. !!! All the compare databases can't find it the so called specialist jap import insurers are mostly ignorant of it and only want sport car business. Mark Richards insurance brokers do it as do Admiral, Flux and Direct I believe. Admiral are supposedly the cheapest but not for me !!! I went with Mark Richards for second time, this year... the cost is TWICE the Coupe insurance but of course the risk reflects twice the people carrying capacity !!!!
Shaun
Yes sounds like the same sort of rubbish I had with the surf, I had to have a thatcham cat 1 on it and had to be fully comp. Insurance on the surf 2.4 diesel £600, insurance on the 2.9 cosworth £200 ! 2
Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted June 20, 2019 Moderators Report Share Posted June 20, 2019 Insurers are number-crunchers first and foremost and gamblers a close second. In effect they're gambling you won't have an accident they have to pay out on and you're placing a bet on a yearly basis that you won't have an accident. Your bet = your premium = your stake against you having an accident. If you win the bet, you get nothing, if you lose they cover the costs. Whichever way you look at it, they win, even if they have to pay out because for every person that has an accident, there's umpteen others that don't. They alter the odds in their favour according to vehicle, area, driver and their record and so on. Then make up the rules as they go along. 2
Shaun
Brilliant, the only thing missing out of your description is their attire of a striped shirt and a mask.
Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted June 20, 2019 Moderators Report Share Posted June 20, 2019 They wear cunning disguises to give them an air of respectability. 😛 Many moons ago when i lived/worked in Norwich, you could always tell the Norwich Union (now Aviva) insurance staff as they all wore white socks. Nobody else in the whole area would be seen dead in white socks at the time but NU staff always had white socks 1

Moderators PTR200S Posted April 26, 2020 Author Moderators Report Share Posted April 26, 2020 Coming on for Insurance day in May..... Just tried Brentacre who are supposed to be good on price.... Their website is a complete nightmare, really stupid questions in some areas..I spent the best part of ten minutes filling their questionnaire, something I can do in five on most other sites. The biggest cockup , however, was the fact that they are unable to find my registration for the Elysion.........Worse that that their website does NOT allow manual entry of the vehicles details and just keeps coming up with the request to enter your valid registration. HELLOOOO, it's a fekin valid reg, some DICK Tarsteward keeps taken my road tax money. arrrggghhhhh. !

Moderators PTR200S Posted May 2, 2020 Author Moderators Report Share Posted May 2, 2020 Currently two insurance companies are talking more sensibly, Mark Richards in Bristol, who are the current insurers and Direct Line who have managed to undercut them by 50 quid !! Adrian Flux, Advance, Brentacre, Admiral are all 50 quid over MR , to 200 over !!! Admiral have given some good quotes to a couple of Elysion owners quotes way below mine but are over by 60 quid in my case, so worth checking out. With less than 500 Van's in the country it's taking some time get the Elysion noticed by the mainstream insurance companies, even ones that know what an Odyssey are stumped with the Elysion!! Direct line insured an Elysion 2.4 as an Accord, close !!!! Well the engine is...mine is shown as an Odyssey for the purposes of the quote, not sure its that close although it's better than an Accord close !!! If we keep trying eventually the message should get through...... 1
Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted May 2, 2020 Moderators Report Share Posted May 2, 2020 I remember when i was 17 trying to find insurance for a Datsun Skyline, it was a genuine UK model but even then most insurers hadn't heard of it! Kept trying to quote me on a Bluebird SSS (nearest Coupe they could find) then loading the premium because it had been "modified" with a 2.4i lump - errr, no, Mr Datsun built it that way and it's not a Bluebird! Nearest most of them found was the GTR 2000 Turbo as an import but they loaded that because it was an import, had a turbo and was considered "race tuned". 🙄
Moderators PTR200S Posted May 5, 2020 Author Moderators Report Share Posted May 5, 2020 Result today, conversation with current insurer, MR, resulted in an undercutting of Direct Lines price !! Can't be bothered chasing any more companies so signed up for another year with MR......or rather the credit card did... 😞 https://www.japcover.co.uk/models/honda-insurance/honda-elysion-car-insurance/ 1

Moderators PTR200S Posted November 9, 2021 Author Moderators Report Share Posted November 9, 2021 Been in constant contact for a few months with comparethemarket.com about adding other models to the system and this morning they confirmed that the 2.4 version , 2004 to 2006 has been added.. Well, that is something but still not added the 3.0 version...just written back to my contact in the company to see what's happening.

Moderators PTR200S Posted November 23, 2021 Author Moderators Report Share Posted November 23, 2021 The 3.0 litre version has finally been added to some of the comparison websites !!! Compare the market and Money supermarket are definitely showing the early 3 litre models as well as the 2.4 version. Its taken me most of the year plus numerous emails back and forth to get this on..... and yet they still only show the one model variation, VX, and are showing it as a five door hatchback 😜 FFS !!! Confused . com are still....confused..... and can't find my model by reg plate, the aforementioned sites can actually find it by reg plate correctly....No more Mr NSX Boy !!! Edit, UPDATE !!! confused now have the model showing provided it's searched using the vehicle search facility rather then the reg plate.... 1
