All is good under the bonnet of my Coupe, fluids all good..nothing to see here 🙄

Bit of a wash again.....external only...

..engine a bit dirty, not got around to cleaning it up beyond the "robin clearout" a month back.

Just need to get some enthusiasm up for what is a messy job !!!!

today was blast about day in the Coupe.....yeha !.....

Downside is an investigation at the rear end of the car revealed that the rear brake disks look the be getting worse than they did a few months ago, as far as rust goes...CV19 strikes again !

Probably a 10mm wide , rusty, line on the outer edge of the face you can see through the wheel..........6mm on the hub side of the face of the disk.... don't want to really look at the inside of the disks..they will be worse I suspect 🙄

They work perfectly well at the moment as a high speed stop today illustrated but I am sure they could be better !!

Will need to keep a lookout for suitable replacements, Blueprint possible unless I can get a genuine set from somewhere that wouldn't bend my credit card too much. ready for the winter maintenance.

Handbrake cable is too tight and/or the auto adjusters aren't working - worst case scenario.

Could simply be lack of use and driving the first half mile or so with the handbrake half on each time you use it will sort it. ;):D

Nice purchase there Stu. It'll eventually be parts availability that kills a lot of coupes but at least you're going to be ahead of the game.

So many parts that commonly fail from wear and tear, calipers, suspension parts alternators aren't readily available in the UK so unfortunately a simple breakdown could lead many motors to the scrapper, lots of parts I have salvaged from broken up coupes are still selling, so still keeping a few going.👍

Not a report from TODAY, but from about a week ago:

After a few weeks of not being used,  I took my coupe out for 3 separate journeys in one day 😁, and something broke 😣.

Luckily, it's only a blown stoplight bulb; I think I have a spare somewhere in my garage!

I needed a front brake caliper for my cg4 a couple of years ago and my mechanic sourced a reconditioned one quite easily.

I would have not mentioned it a couple of years back, but try and find a matching pair now and I will stand corrected 😉

Brake-eng.com (Brake Engineering) lists coupe calipers and a few other things:

http://www.brake-eng.com/en/catalogue/#market=gb&vehicleType=P&manufacturerId=45&modelId=3950&vehicleId=|10240&variantId=10240&productGroupId=78

Perhaps Stu could have a look and determine if these are indeed suitable...   The link I give is the resuts that came back for a 3l coupe

Maybe this will be a source to keep a few more coupe's going?   I used them for my Mitsubishi and they gave excellent service and reliable product sfor that car.

Thanks for that Paul they look correct but can't determine if they have any available, few sites list them but don't have them in stock?

Just an oil and filter change for me last Sunday. As the V6 is such a heavy lump compared with the Jazz and Triumph, I had two axle stands and the jack underneath the front for extra peace of mind. That being said, I think any car coming down whilst underneath would render you finished in this world 😂

A few pics, noting the S2000 filter.

When I'm changing oil on my cg4, I can just about get under the car far enough when the front wheels are on breeze blocks - so no jacking required.  I can drive up some wedges to get the wheels on the breeze blocks.

Good man !!!

I just run mine up the ramps, just lifts it a few inches off the floor (hydraulic lift ramps) but even just onto to 6x2 timber will lift it enough to get the sump plug off 🙂

Yeah that’s a brilliant idea. I have also noticed how easy it would be to change the filter by putting the front wheels on full lock. Not worth it though because of the need to access the sump plug.

Always do the filter , on the coupe, from the side after turning wheel hard right much easier than the K24 / K20 for a start !!!  Elysion is the same, obviously!!

Its possible to reach the sump plug from the side especially if vehicle is up a couple or three inches but getting the oil container underneath is another matter !!!

What sort of ramps do you have, Pete?  Can we have a pic?

What is the difference between the S2000 filter and the "correct" CG2 filter?  If it fits, then isn't that all there is to it?

Also, interested to hear how you clean out the washing up bowl before it goes back in the kitchen sink! [imagine a laughing emoji here :)]

The S2000 filter, Accord Type-R filter shares virtually identical spec's to the originally specified oil filter for the J30A engine which has since been discontinued. Honda standardised the petrol engine oil filters, but still retains the specialist filters for certain models, so I would rather use a filter that meets the or exceeds the specifications...

This when I was doing the lower rad coolant pipe clip, just high enough to change the oil too!

Link here for a couple of more pics

plus some more after a bit of use over the last couple of years !  This is the height I use for oil changes on Coupe.

Well, the Coupe did it's last day at work - from tomorrow there's a Vivaro for carting all my work kit about.

I'm going to miss the easy power to overtake, not miss the lack of go after a tight bend leaves you out of the VTEC range, miss the general loveliness of driving around town with an autobox but not miss the sometimes 12mpg 😂

She's been abused at work and carries the scars but it's been fun for sure. She's now insured and taxed for a year in retirement and a 5k mile limit.
