  1. 219k miles! That's the most I've seen on a coupe and it just beats my present score of 210k! Must try harder! 😂
  2. I see that it has remote audio controls on the steering wheel, which mine doesn't have. Is this a wireless system that just clips onto the steering wheel, or is it fully integrated with the car and wired in?
  3. Today my brake lamp warning light illuminated on my dash, and at the same time the HAND brake light also illuminated. I guess I have blown a bulb, but didn't have anyone with me to help me check, so I'll check tomorrow. Anyway, I noticed that the warning lights illuminated while I was not pressing the brake pedal, so I wondered how the warning lamp is triggered. Does anybody know?
  4. Excellent point! Better the devil you know! In my case, it's not even a devil, it's great. Comfortable, reliable, easy diy maintenance, good performance, not costing a lot to run. What more can you want in a car?
  5. When we're the last CG2s and CG4s registered? They must be 2001 or later? So I wonder how much is the road tax is for them? The online DVLA vehicle details service is really useful, but one thing it omits is the cost of road tax. I have no idea why the website cannot show the cost of road tax for the selected vehicle.
  6. Here's my take on running costs..... Although I have no idea how much I could sell the car for, I'm pretty sure it has now depreciated as much as possible. So, that is one "running cost" I won't have to suffer. Mine is a 2.0, so tax isn't as much as others: £325 at last renewal (how much for a 3.0?). But, taking in to account the saved depreciation, it ain't too bad. My insurance cost £200 for the last year. I think that in order to save on running costs, I'd have to invest time and money in buying something else. Fuel economy is in the 30s mpg and I'm doing about 4k miles a year commuting. So all-in-all, I'm quite content with the situation. If the car was purely for fun / hobby, I'd be more inclined to go for a tax exempt vehicle.
  7. That's an amazing example. It has an external radio aerial! Can't remember the last time I saw one of these cars. Come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I saw a cg2/4, except my own!
  8. @jang apart from the appealing appearance, how are these different to the standard ones? Are they bigger diameter, or just a better, straighter path? Are you expecting an increase in power?
  9. I finally got round to refitting the a.c. temperature actuator today. I didn't do very much to it, as it looked ok inside, so baffled by the problem. I'll try it out next week and see how it goes.
  10. I have managed to cut mine off with a hacksaw when I had the same problem. I have seen some which have a place to put a spanner to stop the shaft turning. Beats me why they don't all have it,because IMHO the hex drive socket in the end is a rubbish idea.

    Hi

I realise that classics are exempt but when I checked the old TR2, the website distinctly said it was free to drive in the ulez because it meets the emissions standard not because it is exempt. This exemption of classics may contribute to desirability and price rises in some classics.
  12. I checked my 2l cg4 on the tfl website and it said that it would cost £12.50 per day to drive in the London ulez. No mention of exemption was shown. I also checked a 1954 triumph tr2 using a known reg no. Weirdly, it said that the car does meet the emissions stsndards of the london ulez, so charges do not apply.
  13. Do they meet the requirements for avoiding charges in the ULEZ? I know that my 2l would incur charges. Could be some become casualties of the scrappage scheme.
  14. I was in Cornwall for the last week in July and 1st week in August and we had rain EVERY day. Oh, and the storm force winds! 😑
  15. So it punctured the tyre with the head, not the sharp point?
  16. Bad luck with the puncture, Pete. Many years ago, I drove over a large bolt, which lifted the tyre off the ground before it pierced the tyre. Any way, the bolt head was proud of the tyre and every revolution it made a loud noise when it hit the road. It took me several attempts to find it, as every time I moved the car, I stopped with the bolt on the bottom! 😆
  17. Looks good. I have a patch on my boot where the lacquer has peeled like that. Anybody know why this can happen in isolated patches like this?
  18. I don't remember seeing this before. An impressive array of options. Aside from the body kit, I wonder if anybody here has any of the other options? I think somebody here had a tow bar, didn't they? What about that sat nav system? I've never see anything like it! 🤣 The dab tuner looks great? Was it only offered for one year? It beats me why dab tuners in cars took so long to become common. The alarm looks good too. Does anybody have this?
  19. The film is Queen and slim, from 2019. It's not my usual kind of film, but when I changed channels one night the scene that was on was quite gripping. I found it on +1, so set it to record and watched it in it's entirety on another day. Anyway, if you should watch it, when the film story reaches New Orleans, there's a Honda clearly visible parked at the side of the road. It only has front view, but I'm 99% sure its an accord coupe!
  20. I received a reminder yesterday from dvsa about the air bag inflator recall on my coupe. I have received a few letters about this over the years, but not acted on it as I'm not very close to a Honda dealer. I wonder if Honda is charged by dvsa for the recall letters that they send?
  21. I hate getting a puncture and having to change a pair as a result. I don't mind having odd tyres on the back, but prefer a matched pair on the front.
  22. Just like having crackers and cheese, it is never ending. When you've eaten your last cracker, there's always a bit of cheese left, so you get another cracker. But there's not enough cheese for the whole cracker, so you end up cutting another piece. But then it ends up being too big for the remaining cracker, so you reach out for another cracker. Etc, etc...... 😂
  23. I saw this recent advert from a breaker who had 2 preludes https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02Guatq7VVdCoEir5mgYiVSqQyEbcaAyj1bUp3FAaW6q4LUkevozhQWEXJuxihW5ztl&id=100063725433034
