  1. I'm really pleased you got to the bottom of it and it's helping someone else to keep there's on the road. That a proper win! Good effort Stu.
  2. So what was up with the gearbox Stu? Why did it have such a viscous nature when I had it? There were days when it felt like I was back on my 350 LC. Happy to hear it fixed a few cars up. *It did one nightime trip across Germany, mostly with 220kph on the clock. Ate the miles up like I eat fish and chips.
  3. How's this for a special Civic? https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/40594/1976-honda-lady-review-driving-the-one-of-one-civic-wearing-haute-italian-fashion?utm_campaign=trueanthem_AI&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_term=thedrive
  4. Look much better on a lighter coloured car 👍
  5. I think it had had a knock on that rear ns window support, lots of dodgy paint and filler
  6. Radio never worked, that'd be why then!
  7. It shows just how valuable a car as good as Flex will eventually become - it's only a couple of years since Lovey/Baldrick was flying around the Alps, up and down the passes and cruising across Germany at 220mph. There must be quite a few V6s out there that are living on borrowed time now... I hope the next project goes better.
  8. Ahh man - I'm sorry to hear this 🙁 That's a bit of a ball breaker after all that effort. It's easy to say the niggles were warning you but at what point do you stop? The laquer peel was the end for me personally 🤷 A sad day.
  9. There's a nice donor engine hiding under some dodgy paintwork...
  10. Aww man - that's sad to see.
  11. Cash that in once the price of copper goes up again!
  12. I tooky CG2 over the Alps a couple of times pre covid - no issues at all and even had a lovely 220kph constant blast across Germany one night. European recovery is linked to car value, so I'd say that's were you need to start, perhaps a fixed value classic insurance. I was quite happy to travel without recovery tho.
  13. Exactly that - battery had recovered to 11.97v when I went out, would turn over but not start. I've got the battery on charge currently. I'll take the alternator out on Tuesday, it was working fine yesterday and it can go back. As for Lovey, my time is over.
  14. Cheers fella. To be honest, fitted the rebuilt alternator yesterday, drove to work and stuff fine. Just went out this afternoon, the car starts playing up, gearbox horrendous, abs light on, so I head home. Battery reads 9v. I think I'm done with her now. It's been one little nigggle after another for the last 18 months and a lot of money. I think I'll offer her to Stuart like I did originally. The time has come.
  15. The guy who did Sheltune's has retired - in fact, they're all looking really old in there now!
  16. So I had the alternator rebuilt - at a place called Electro Start Ltd in Daventry, a small unit nestled near the Cummins and Ford factories. The guy was super knowledgeable, hadn't seen this Honda one but reeled off some similar and then had a hunt for a new one. Couldn't locate one, saying the Autodoc one is slightly different but did find one on eBay that he thought "might" be the same but the picture weren't clear. So £100 + parts + vat. All genuine parts from Denso, bearings, regulator, rectifier etc and all bolt in place. I'll take a picture later but it looks fabulous. Total cost £168 and I know it's the right one.
  17. I saw that one but wasn't too sure if 1/ Autodoc was okay 2/ It was the right one. They also have a different one for the V6. Found a place on Alibaba that does them for £50 if you buy 20 😂
  18. Spoke to a few local places advertising alternator repair but all sent them to the same guy who's just retired - I'm sure there'll be someone. I'll check with Knights in Nether tomorrow.
