  1. Thank you very much and you weren't kidding about it being extensively discussed ! The way I am thinking I could have written song sheet that most of you were singing from ! I particularly concur with your posting of the 24th November 2020. Nobody is going to mess with my Coupe unless I am in attendance. There may be trouble ahead.... I will let you know how I get on. Thanks again Jon
  2. Hi guys I have been served with a recall notice by Honda UK. Apparently the driver's airbag in my Coupe might be overpressurised. I would be grateful to hear if anyone else has had similar. Thanks Jon
  3. No Chrismas I just went through Ebay UK in the normal way . The supplier then shipped to the Kentucky facility. It was with me in ten days.
  4. Certified Auto Parts 829 Los Olivia Dr San Gabriel CA 91775-1626 I got the Cam belt kit complete with water pump and seals from them but bought the hydraulic tensioner separately. Went for the shorter type which supposedly can be reset. They are interchangeable. All through EBay who now have an export hub in Kentucky.... excellent service Good luck Jon
  5. Hi Christmas I have seen your post and will try and find the paperwork
  6. Feeling inspired by my new MOT I got stuck in to some serious and somewhat overdue maintenance. New oil and filter and a part change of tranny fluid. Blew the air filter clean and put it back, could still see the sun through it. Cooling system back flush and a new thermostat. Changed the cam belt and water pump (again !) after another 63k and new antifreeze. Got all the bits from the States and saved a mint. Genuine Chinese copies appeared fine to me. Car is running beautifully right now......just hope it lasts. Worked out the plugs have done 60k without missing a beat so they can stay put for now. Having replaced the CVJ's earlier in the year I ended up with two complete and brand new kits which I can't see me needing. Long and boring story. If anyone is in need give me a tug. Happy motoring, cheers Jon
  7. Thanks but I just don't know how to do URL from a tablet sorry.
  8. Final update on this subject. Paul a mobile welder performed in my driveway on Tuesday. Worked for about three hours £150. Sussex Windscreens performed on Wednesday. New Pilkington screen is not too bad at all. Pilkington even manufactured the trim ! I now have a new MOT Ahh..... the joy of the open road !
  9. Thanks, I agree entirely. I might have to do some carpet and wiring work too as the loom from the back is awful close ! I have pics if anyone is interested but my crappy tablet and your system don't get on. If you do please send an email to jonshep2001@gmail.com Cheers for now
  10. Unfortunately I think it's pretty bad.... it encircles the jacking point
  11. I had been reluctant to remove the rear wheel cos the jacking point is part of the rust problem. Ended up jacking off the subframe with a prewar acme screw jack which did an amazing job. Once the wheel was off it was easy with two blows of my small rubber hammer. All the clips intact. Now for some quotes, thanks again Jon
  12. Hi Guys I remembered reading this post a couple of years ago. I have now found it again cos the old girl failed her ticket with a hole in the sill ! Not good news..... So far I have removed all the fixings but the plastic cover won't budge. Just how hard dare I wack it ? Other than this she sailed through as usual 😥
  13. What a peach ! My first Coupe was Heather Mist.....a real honey of a car. Look after it Cheers Jon
  14. Hi Chrismas My V6 has done 118k and consumed 200 mills of Castrol 15/30 in the last 6000 miles. Hope you can get to the bottom of it. Cheers Jon
  15. My Coupe is covered by NFU Mutual for the second year now. I stayed with them because to my surprise the premium went down for 2019. I now pay £294 which includes RAC roadside assistance. I am however not permitted to carry more than 2000 shot gun cartridges at any one time, damn it !
  16. Thank you Roger where are all the 2.0 litre manuals ? You never see them.
  17. Does anyone know how many Coupes made it over here originally ?
  18. I think you are right. I try to load rear seat passengers on the left because it takes too long to move and with no memory never goes back to my sweet spot.
  19. Thanks Dave you were right, the tell tale behaves itself. Straightforward mod, the stalk remains master the floor switch is optional. Navigating country lanes much improved. Switch used was a Mk 1 Mini unit, it's a little noisy will have to keep my eye out for a quieter version.
  20. Forgive me if this is not relevant to your issue and the expert advice that you are getting but I had similar problems with my previous Coupe some years ago. I too purchased new dual filament bulbs both Halford's own brand and then Lucas. The problem persisted. Can't remember who told me the impedance window was very narrow and to only buy genuine Honda bulbs which cured the problem straight away. I have only bought Honda bulbs since and have had no bother.
  21. Gremlin reappeared today seems my celebrations were premature ! Ruled out the earth since everything now soldered.....no crimps. Blue/green definitely the culprit where it T's off to front and rear of anyone knows where that is ? Might try and locate it when it gets warmer. In the meantime have run a new wire bypassing it and tucked it under the plastic/carpet junction. Bet it's a crimp, I hate them, how much would a bit of solder add to the cost of a loom ?
  22. Well I just think white would be good. Now I am not chasing gremlins I might apply myself. It doesn't want to be too bright, might have to experiment with different resistors plus there isn't much room.
  23. I hope so Dave it was not really the weather to do what had to be done. Different ballgame to summer tinkering ! I think I was lucky. I have no idea what function the brown wire satisfies. I rather hoped it was the earth for the parking censors but they are still unserviceable. What gets me is the painted earth worked for 20 years. My Gremlin was born in the factory ! I would love to know if accurate wiring diagrams are still available for 1998 RH drive Coupes ? Thanks for you help Jon
