  1. Thanks again Stu, makes me realize how grubby the fitted carpets are ! A shampoo and blow dry wouldn't go amiss ? Probably the first in twenty years ! Lol
  2. They omitted the eyelet hole (despite it being clearly show on the template) and supplied four plastic anchors which I declined to use. I consider this a minor detail which was easy to overcome. Why am I "quite pleased"" because overall I am, it was a balance between budget and quality. The mats have a granular backing because all their mats do, I would have preferred a secondary backing but for £35 I was prepared to compromise. They were nice people to do business with which goes a long way with me and I had had quotes which ranged up to £160 !
  3. My new footwell carpets arrived yesterday and I am quite pleased with them. You could read a paper through my original ones which had done over 230,000 miles ! They were from my first Coupe since none came with my latest model when I bought it. Having done my research I decided to do business with Unique Products from Skegness despite their having no records for a 1998 Accord Coupe. The lady in charge is Morgan Cobble to whom I sent templates which are now scanned and in their database. I chose both mats from their Luxury Range in beige with a heelpad on the driver's side all for £35.00 including postage. All I had to do was the locating eyelet.
  4. I have yet to the plunge with LED headlights so will be very interested in your findings. I did fit LED sidelights which are fine and I also fitted LED reversing lights which were not. They look the part, very bright and white but they just don't light the way as well as standard bulbs. I have ordered some Xenon effect blue glass bulbs and will see if they are any good this weekend.
  5. Has anyone had any experience of M-Tech Platinum by Power Bulbs please ?
  6. Thanks guys that's a relief then if I had any sort of a decent manual it might of helped. What has been useful is your confirmation of the location of the reversing lights switch, thank you. The investigation will proceed
  7. Sorry PTR I think I have confused you. My reference to the boot lid remote and the parking censors was for model variant identification only. I am not aware of any interference between the two systems and this car doesn't have a remote boot lid anyway. It is far more simple, the parking censors no longer function and I am hoping to investigate how they are activated when reverse is selected. I have no way knowing if they share the reversing light circuit / micro switch or have their own etc. etc. So I thought that removing the centre console should be next logical task ?
  8. This is the only relevant topic I have found so here goes. My first Coupe had a remote boot lid release operated from the key fob, a very nice feature which I miss. My current Coupe does not. Instead it has four parking censors which worked for a while initially, became intermittent then quit. During a rear end removal to make new brackets for the number plate lights I inspected the parking censor connectors and wiring which all appeared in excellent condition. But since no power was detected I concluded that the problem could be at the other end ? The reversing lights function perfectly. I recently decided to have a look under the centre console and consulted the Chilton Manual which came with the car. I don't know I any of you have seen this American edition but I can assure you that you haven't missed anything ! Chocolate teapots and fireguards spring to mind ! I would be very grateful therefore to hear from anyone who has carried out the removal of the centre console as to where any blind fixings are present etc.
  9. It's running fine for now, thank you, I will give an S2000 one a try when I have to.
  10. Hi Dave, thank you. There's no more identification on the Koito pump, I took some pics but can't upload them. It's looks the same as the one in V6vtec's pictures. The thermal fuse suggestion makes sense and I will bear in mind that it's no longer operable. It certainly delivers now even the windscreen gets a good soaking ! Lol I can move on to other projects having bought a bit of time. Cheers Jon
  11. Hi Dave Thanks for picking up on this, I really appreciate it. I know it's an very old thread. My headlight washer pump hadn't worked for years and looked worse than terrible ! I had the front off the car for other reasons and I can't resist a challenge ! I spent some time looking on line for a new Koto 868 without any direct luck although from the images I thought an S2000 one might be worth a punt ? Before investing I took another look, I hate things that are crimped together but stripped it all the same. It was frozen solid the armature being rusted to the magnets ! On the brush plate there was something I am not familiar with. Encrusted with corrosion some kind of circuit breaker or points that were also frozen solid. It was hopeless to resurrect it so I removed it and soldered the brass components together. The rest of the rebuild was straightforward and it roared into life at least for now ! The short burst operation remains so I am mystified as to the original purpose of the circuit breaker ?
  12. Hi V6vtec I'm doing loads of jobs with my front bumper off and thought I might tackle the headlight washer pump which has never worked. Can you remember where you got your replacement please ? Thanks Jon
  13. Sorry you are still having no luck with the led bulb. My grain of wheat bulbs came from www.railwayscenics.com or I can send you one. Good luck Jon
  14. It was you who inspired me ! thank you, please be inspired !
  15. My bulbs arrived this morning and are an exact match with the original ! (Maybe 1mm longer) Tricky bit was stripping the insulation from the flexible tails. God it's all so small !I And posting the wires through the tiny holes. Success was achieved with two pairs of glasses and a torch ! Back into the clock without drama. Bingo ! Perfect ! I can confirm light comes on with the ignition not the side lights but it dims, bless it, when they are turned on. It's hard for me to imagine a more satisfactory outcome for once, no resistors or polarity issues to worry about. It's only taken me about 15 years to get round to it Thank you PTR for starting this thread and Dave for your input and interest. Steve at Railwayscenics supplied the bulbs. Cheers Jon
  16. Well I have waded through a multitude of misleading advertising for LED conversions and read many reviews written by a cross section of motorists. I have concluded that there's a small handful of respected manufacturers striving to make quality products that are still denied ECE legal recognition and the rest who are on the band wagon with cheap copies that should never should be recognised. The vast number of fleabay offerings are quite simply counterfeit rubbish appealing to the fashion conscious. God help us if we meet them on the public highway ! However one new product that came available in May this year has caught my eye. Of course they have no ECE approval but seem to tick many boxes. Philips X-trend Ultinon Comments invited
  17. Thank you very much for the offer of an led , if my plans don't work out I might be glad of one
  18. Sadly I have no definitive answers yet as my meter is not here at the moment. What I have done for a very modest outlay is ordered "grain of wheat" bulbs from a model railway supplier. I plan to use the old bulb's plastic housing as a holder. They come in all colours 3mms diameter and are 12volt. The postage greatly exceeds their 70 pence price tag. Will let you know how I get on
  19. On the bench the bulb proved unserviceable. Dropped in on my local Honda dealer, no surprise no bulbs ! Have to get creative unless anyone knows where there are some please?
  20. Thought I would throw my ten penny worth into this thread, however historic it has become. The clock never illuminated in my first Coupe and I made no attempt to rectify it. So I was not surprised when it didn't work in my current model. Inspired by the wisdom of these pages I confidently removed the clock (without losing the spring that shot out from the hazard switch multiplug) and inspected the bulb with a X9 magnifying glass ! The filament looks fine so I will have to move on to a bench test .
  21. Interesting you favour led's for country lanes as this important for me. So too is the challenge (this can be on any road) to continue seeing the near side margin on dip when a neanderthal driving a popular german make is approaching ! My thoughts swing back to led's too in consideration of my 20 year old relays

Thank you, PTR there's a lot to get your head around here.
