  1. The local guy just retired - nowhere local left now.
  2. Currently in need of one of these, having no luck so far locating one but perhaps looking at the wrong sites etc. Anyone else had to buy one or a replacement? Or can recommend a place that'll put new bearings in etc? Cheers in advance
  3. Sitting there untouched since the alternator went - I've been way too busy with work to get around to doing anything with it. Get this holiday out of the way and I'll give it some thought.
  4. Nice Stu - great cars for daily driving.
  5. Mine has never done that - Stu replaced the belts when I got it, its always been silent. It didn't go away either, just got louder and whinier, so I parked up after 12 miles and walked home. Listening again yesterday, it comes from the alternator, which is getting red hot. Gonna have a think about it today. We're moving the boat and it'd have to live in a town centre car park anyway.
  6. Well, I stick the coupe in for the MOT a week ago and she went straight through, I was happy to say the least. Today however, there was a whine/whistle on start up that follows the revs and I think, it's the alternator. Stu replaced the water pump and belts a couple of years back, so I don't think it's the water pump. I think my time with the car might be over...
  7. A lad on an accord page sold his cl7 cat for 1100 quid or thereabouts a couple of months ago. About as much as the car was worth. He let the other page members have the rest of the car for spares.
  8. What Pete said - you really do have to wonder how many sorned vehicles will ever get back on the road. Six months sat on their tyres, not being started so the fuel is evaporating away... the problems will add up to a bill that's higher than the cars value, especially if the cat is taken into account.
  9. Ach. It was great! All B-roads, flat out in 2nd gear ❤️
  10. I was regularly down to 17mpg around town before, I even once managed 12mpg...
  11. Well, I've managed about 800 miles in the last two weeks of really mixed driving which would normally have the fuel gauge plummeting but the car has managed roughly 30mpg. All Stu's fettling over the lockdown has paid off in higher MPG around town.
  12. That was the plan but covid and now a new van mean no more trips abroad for the coupe.
  13. Popped some new tips on the replacement exhaust that Stu fitted. Took her for a run too. Always nice to hit the redline.
  14. So 'Lovey' has had a couple of shortish runs and the difference with the gearbox is chalk and cheese. Stu had changed the gearbox oil four times in the past and that had made a difference but twice after changes, I headed straight to the Alps and basically fried the oil in the box. He's done a few(?) part changes since I dropped the car off at the end of Oct and the box is pretty smooth now. There's no lurch into overdrive/fifth at 25mph anymore, which was ever so annoying. The kickdown is still ridiculous, like a second's pause before violently engaging warp drive but that's just the nature of my box it would appear. Fun in a straight line but not so good if it happens in a bend. Thank you so very very much Stu.
  15. Oh yes - so nice to be in the cockpit again! Thanks Stu 😀
  16. I can't really remember 😂 I'm getting old!
  17. Mine didn't when I bought it, it's an easy bulb change tho.
  18. For definite Dave and mostly that's down to alarm systems draining the battery slowly - we've had to replace the battery in the PT Cruiser again this year, not enough use killed it off when that cold spell came.
  19. Maybe my coupe is not as bad as I thought

    My KB1

I'm in Northampton - if we ever have a big club meet, then a camping weekend at Billing Aquadrome amongst the Vauxhalls and Landies might be an idea!

    Josh's Coupe

Interesting to see what full respray costs.
