  1. Fixed front calipers with kits only for a back one to go two weeks later. Covering me in smoke as i stepped out, most uncool ☚ī¸ Just remembered about this post as surfing the bay for replacement as it's just easier to swap out the unit as a whole probably. If you've any o/s rears in your stash for sale let me know that'd be great and piece of mind knowing it's right part too.
  2. I got a further letter, this time from the dvla. I had a mild panic at first thought I was getting fined for something.
  3. Finally replaced n/s front caliper pistons. Only a short journey to local car shop (only to find out it was closed) was enough to have smoke billowing out of my wheel arch. Not a good look. Some serious hard pressing on the pedal to free the larger of the two. Cleaned up, lubed up, lots of swearing regarding seating the rubber boots and all back together. Just needs proper bleeding and top up 🤞

    Flat out !!

I saw a video not long ago where they drained the oil out of x3 cars then ran them to see how long an engine lasted without oil. There was a focus, civic and another car I can't recall. The Ford and other car died within 2mins. The Honda was still running after 10 mins. So much so they had to jump in and drive it round for another 5mins before anything broke.
  5. Maybe a bump needed for the clamp warning. Depending on the viewing angle it may be deceptive if you can only see the thick side, when it's the two thin sections which are the real weak point to check. New phone keeps glitching with this forum and throw multiple spaces and new lines when typing 🙄 not sure why but takes ages to correct. Also lost drop box links for images. Will drop one in Whatssapp
  6. No bleed valve found 🤔 but manky fluid swapped out for Prestone and the lower pipe clamp replaced too, which only had one of the thin parts still connected. Rest came off in my hand! Ran up to temperature then for a razz. V.quick car 😃
  7. Cheers. Was just double checking it wasn't on other models like the oddy etc 👍
  8. Is there a coolant drain plug on the coupe and a bleed valve like on the Eric car guy video?
  9. Any teachings and advice welcome. Catch is all good. Soaked in white spirit and tooth brushed all crud away and freshly lubed up. Doesn't seem much to the lever, but I see where you're coming from. It's tucked in amongst the trim isn't it so only a quick glance so far and thought naah. But will give further investigation. I'm guessing regarding the actuator it's a ball joint into clip job. 20+Yr old plastic and me don't get on. All 4 wheels move fine manually, just that motor which is iffy. No big deal though.
  10. Searched, as in on the forum 😅 not for it physically. In other news. The bonnet cable was moving much better after a long drip feed soak. That is until I put it back together. Now it's worse. Given up with that bit and washed my noise box cone filter instead, but then noticed lower rad hose clamp held together by crust đŸĨē definitely next job.
  11. Remove it, take it apart, break it then prob buy another
  12. I have searched honestly but buried or not exists? The motor for moving the headlamp beam up and down. My offside one is intermittent. It's a bit better after some manual winding up and down, but i was up for a dissection and grease up job. I presume they come out of the unit. I got as far as unplugging and then it happily rotated a quarter but then nothing else. Left it be as didn't want to force anything. Was I close or missed something?
  13. Cheers, not had time yet. I'll pinch some from Mrs chain cleaning kit when I've got time. Probably take off the whole assembly and do a proper job too rather than a random stab at it. 😁
  14. Yeh they got slated for that on the Facebook feedback and have promised to address it. I wondered if that's why the roadworks at the junction had reappeared?
  15. Spotted x2 today within 30 secs of each other. Thought one was Pete, but as they blatantly ignored me trying to pull out of Tarleton aldi I figured it wasn't 😁 It was black with gold badges on closer inspection. Followed by a white one coming up the other way as I turned towards Preston.
  16. Hah no it doesn't. It sticks too despite being off and cleaned up already. I have to get a screwdriver or similar to knock and prod the latch back into position. Haven't unpinged cable from cabin side. Might investigate that and pull it through? But it doesn't look easily accessible so fearful of not being able to get it back đŸ˜Ŧ doubt replacement cables are readily available in UK. In my experience anything crappie that could go wrong usually does for me.
  17. Cheers. Will have a play and investigate sticky stuck motor too. Only other issue is bonnet being a pain due to cable sticking. Tried pouring lube down it to no avail. Hence why I've not been under yet already. Anyone have any ingenious solutions to firing fluid down to help free it up?
  18. Been out a few times in the evening in the coupe recently and getting flashed by oncomers now and again. Assumed its my beam and potentially from my nudge in the summer, so I pointed them down using the switch. One side moves more than the other using that, is there a manual adjustment to compensate for a wayward beam before I look a bending bits back with guesstimations?
  19. https://brakeparts.co.uk/ These guys are good also. They sell kits to replace the sliders and 20yr old rubber. And also caliper kits to replace pistons and seals. Less than ÂŖ20. They do them through ebay too if not on direct website. A garage would make short work of it if you don't have time, space, tools and confidence. About an hours labour and vat I'd guess.
  20. Noticed with all these engine pics I'm missing (never had it on) the badging that covers the front 3 spark plugs. As if someone forgets to put that bit back on after a job ☚
  21. Barely been using the V6 lately as it does drink more than most i suspect so not much to report. Gave it a once over and again the bonnet pull stopped retracting. I always assumed its the latch mechanism gunked up. Turns out that's fine and free. Its the cable itself gripping inside its shroud/housing? Pinged it out as far as i dare (o/s headlamp area) and squirted down as much lube as i could. The plastic end bit where it enters the release mech is bust too. Just positioned behind instead to stop metal on metal rubbing.
  22. Best brush up on my recruiting techniques then, rather than point and stare shocked at seeing another.
  23. Spotted probably the same one in Penwortham this afternoon unless there's suddenly been a rush on red ones nearby.
  24. I still neeeed some of these
