My Brother in law had a 4th gen, same colour. I was looking to buy a 5th gen when I stumbled across the coupe which I wasn't even aware of at the time. It turned out to be a sensible choice in the end, but I still have a hankering after for a Prelude.

I was driving between Buxton and Stockport on Saturday following a modified coupe. It was a very dark purple, darker I think than the stock colour, with what looked like the standard bodykit and spoiler. Sadly it had been radically lowered and stanced with chrome wheels. The A6 is not all in the best condition and the car would make a sudden lurch to one side as the driver avoided the potholes. I couldn't tell if it was the 4 pot or the V6, though it did have a single exhaust pipe if that means anything.

Talking about bulbs, daughters nearside indicator bulb went on her 06 Civic so I told her to get one and I'd fit it., what a palaver! I followed a Youtube video, undo the clips on the wheelarch liner and pull it out of the way to access the back of the bulb. I did this and couldn't see the bulb, and coudn't work out why. I watched a couple more videos and they looked the same as the original. I was working in the dark so I just put it all back together again and left it for the weekend when I could do it in daylight. I jacked the car up this time and removed the wheel to give me more space, and this time I could see that there was some kind of plastic air duct across the back of the bulb. Once this was removed it looked just like in the videos and I quickly changed the bulb, then it was just a matter of refitting the duct and wheelarch liner and replacing the clips, some of which were broken of course so new ones had to fitted from my stock. Not as much work as steering rack joints, but a lot more work than I was expecting!

I've just looked at some of his other output. He is a serious bellend and borderline mentally ill, why would anyone take any notice of him? His video does make one point which sadly explains why we are going to destroy the planet. He talks about a friend (!) visiting, 180 miles journey, and having to stop for a couple of hours to recharge. Say they both live on the motorway network and there's no congestion, that's a 3 hour journey without stops, or a 5 hour one with the 2 hour stop. How long ago was it when 180 miles in 5 hours was considered good going? 60 years? And only 100 years ago it would have taken several hours longer unless they both lived on the same train line. The truth is that this kind of rapid personal transport is not sustainable with current technology. Battery cars are not the answer, but nor is ICE. But unfortunately the majority of people will not give up the "freedom" that the motor car allows them and would rather continue to make the planet uninhabitable than change the way they live.

That's my point, how did the "voice of reason" get from there to justifying his continued use of a diesel car?

I did, and it got worse. Extrapolating from Volvo saying that it takes 70,000 miles to recoup the extra carbon footprint of an electric vehicle to justify continuing to drive a big dirty diesel. Like I said, don't trust anyone calling themselves the voice of reason, reason is something they rarely know how to use.

I did start watching and it started OK and then he revealed himself to be the idiot I expected him to be with his rant against cyclists - the only mode of personal transport that really does make sense. He really does have a melt down at that point, spittle going everywhere, he has got serious problems.

I will watch it later, but I have an automatic negative reaction to anyone who describes themselves as the voice of reason as usually they are anything but.

On the face of it hydrogen fuel would solve the problem of fuelling vehicles very neatly, but the big problem to be overcome is that it is very ineficient There are big losses involved with the production of hydrogen which would double the amount of energy needed to be produced compared to battery driven vehicles. from VW

As we can't carry on burning fossil fuels without terminally destroying the planet and electric vehicles are clearly not a quick fix by any means we will have to all get used to riding bikes.

Not exactly close to you, but not a million miles away is Peter Holborn at PCH in Hazel Grove near Stockport. I used him a couple of times when I lived up that way before I moved to the midlands and found out about Stuart AKA @hughezee. He is very competent and a lover of old Hondas - he was running a Legend when I last went there.

Very well thanks Stu. We've driven it up to St Annes and it was nice to be back sitting in luxury, and I've done a little running about locally. I had to fill with Sainsbury's ordinary unleaded as they had run out of the good stuff but it still returned 37 mpg.

Great service from Stu as usual, nice to see him again however briefly. Hopefully it won't be long before we can all get together at Honda HQ.

I was out clogging up the Staffordshire/Leicestershire/Warwickshire/Derbyshire roads with my cycling buddies for the first time for a long time this evening and we passed a blue-grey Coupe in Snarestone (I think). I'm sure I've seen it at Stu's but embarrassingly I can't remember who it belongs to.

I've just been watching Police Interceptors on the telly and they wanted to break into a drug dealer's car, they were using one of those small window hammers with no luck as all as the windows had been tinted. So extra security for sure.

In afraid that I've never looked for it, maybe I'll remember next time I'm under the car

My coupe has a leak on the sump when I bought it - mines a 2.0 too so maybe it's a weakness of this engine? As I had bought it from a dealer I took it back expecting a new sump but he had it bodged with some epoxy, I know this because I collected it from his mechanic and he told me what he'd done. I was not entirely happy but as I hadn't paid a lot for the car I didn't think I would get very far making a fuss. The sump hadn't leaked since, and I've had it for over 7 years now.

Maybe Stu will set up a new thread, but in the meantime I bought mine 7 years ago when it was 11 years old with 114k on the clock and it cost me £1150. It's now just got to 190k and it will be 20 in January.

I found my coupe by accident when I was looking for a Prelude and I'm glad I did really. I didn't really need 4 seats (we can use the Jazz for those rare occasions) but I used to do a lot of kayaking and camping, and space might have been a bit of an issue in a Prelude. I can get the grandson's new child seat in the back though, maybe it depends upon the model of seat but ours is supposed to go all the way up to 13 years I think. Getting it through the space between the door pillar and the front seat requires careful alignment though. I still sometimes hanker after a Prelude though.

BTW if there is anyone who wants to have a go at fixing my old Bose unit they are welcome to it, and the CD changer too. The aerial connection appears to have a dry joint inside the unit so that reception comes and goes (there are no issues with the new unit) and the cassette player has stopped working altogether. The CD changer has jammed but I think it probably just needs a bit of tlc.

I've put my new head unit in. It is a Pioneer SP-H10BT "mechless" unit, that is it doesn't have a CD player, or even any way of connecting a CD changer. Since this was pretty much how I was using the old Bose unit it seemed the best way to go. It has a tray that slides out the front and flips up to hold your phone, and there's an app on the phone which works as an extension of the display. It comes with a microphone and a button to allow you to make voice calls using voice commands. It all seems to work quite well and it isn't bad looking either, not being overly garish like some units. The phone holder totally obscures the climate control display and most of the buttons, but as that is generally a set and forget item that's not a great problem. The tray can be folded down with the phone on place to allow access to the controls anyway. I had a bit of trouble removing these screws : There are 4 of these and they were very tight. I couldn't get enough torque to shift them with a screwdriver and the sockets on my ½" socket set were to big to fit past the metalwork. So I dug out my trusty £1 bargain which I got from a local pound shop which was small enough to get to the screws but allowed enough torque to loosen them.
