  1. Well, as you are all aware I fitted a known working Bulb and I have been brave and run it until the Needle is just below the "E" Marker Line and still no light. I know it was working previously a few weeks ago - but now nada. Kaput! Well, at least I know it's good until the "E" Marker Line at least if nothing else. So ^%$* it....
  2. Yes, plenty ads but I found having https://www.ghostery.com/ as an Add-On helped alleviate that slightly.... I wonder if mine is still working? Let's try..... (Here is my R75 after I fitted Alcantara Seats): Does it???
  3. I agree, but I think it was just because I was used to PB after so many years. But now I find it quite intuitive.
  4. This reminds me to get my Rear Brake Slider sorted. But I'm just going to check the other side first..... I plan to just remove the Caliper retainer and take that to the garage. It's only 2 miles down the road, and a pleasant walk. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/50.8828318,-1.3238887/50.8747033,-1.3547778/@50.8820824,-1.327226,620m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!4m1!3e0?hl=en
  5. Yes, I concur with Dave regarding Postimages. But I also use Imgur, although not to everyone's taste.
  6. Will do. Should be in November sometime - 3 months. Better start saving...lol.
  7. Mine used to come on, (at just above the "E" Marker Line) but there again I had fitted it with a Red 501 because when I changed the colour of the dash lights to red because of its size I just thought it was one of them... Durrr! Anyway I swapped it over complete with a different holder as when testing it with a meter in the holder the connection seemed intermittent, whereas just testing the bulb, (that would be the red one that was in there) it was fine - not blown. With a clear 501 in a different socket the connection was 100%. Anyway, I will test it before putting fuel in, which won't be long. I'll let you guys know.
  8. I have to say I was using Mobil in the R75 for the first couple of years, but when I changed to Petronas the result was instantaneous. The Engine was just so much quieter and Smoother! Also just the colour and texture of the Petronas was so rich and a luscious golden colour! The only downside is that they have recently changed their Bottle Design - for the worse! But then I suppose what's in it that counts. And if you are wondering why they do 4 litre Bottles? It's because most modern engines only take on average 3.5.......
  9. That's ok, s'alright.... Ah, 5w40. I was always using 10w40 in the R75 for quite a few years then decide to try the Petronas 5w40. Instant result was a much quieter start-up, (not that it was overly noisy to start with mind) and quicker warm-up aswell..... Also it was a Fully Synth. https://www.mymesra.com.my/Passenger_Car_Motor_Oil-@-Syntium_3000_5W-40.aspx And only about £28/5lts. Maybe I will give it a go in the Coupe next time around..... Thanks again.
  10. Thanks Stu. I didn't know it was a recommendation by your good self... Also I prefer 10w40 oils only because 10w30 operating window is from minus 25*C to plus 30*C. Whereas 10w40 has the same lower margin but it's upper operating temperature is 40*C + I know we don't get many days over 30 degrees, but we do nevertheless. Also inside the engine compartment a lot higher than that! So me, I like to err on the side of caution. I realise there is not a single oil that is everything to all, but 10w40 comes pretty close.... Although I will concede that with an A2 spec oil in can increase your fuel economy. I'd be interested to know what you are testing now though???
  11. Thanks Stu..... Bugger! I wasn't looking for a 501 type Bulb Holder.... Totally missed it...lol.
  12. I think the API and the ACEA mean different things. SH & SG are now obsolete and SJ was the most up to date in 2001. Since then there have been 2 improvements - SL & SM being the most up to date as from 2004 which is for all automotive engines currently in use. Introduced in 2004, SM oils are designed to provide improved oxidation resistance, better wear protection, and better low-temperature performance over the life of the oil. Some SM oils may also meet the latest ILSAC specification and/or qualify as Energy Conserving. API is a Rating for Gear Oils. ACEA refers to Engine Oils. A3 (Petrol) & B3 (Diesel) are more suitable for High Performance Engines. I'm not saying A2/B2 is wrong just inferior to A3/B3 and would be recommended for our Engines now. And as for "Additives" they are referring to things like "Slick-50" etc... Of course everything is subject to personal choice.
  13. Thanks.... My concern is if the are RHD compliant?
  14. I thought I would adjust the Handbrake Cable. There is a removable Flap at the bottom of the Armrest Cubby. Remove the Front Edge First as there are 2 Tags that slot into the rear. You will need a 12mm Spanner. I used a Ratchet Combination, made life easier as there isn't much space. But it doesn't take much to adjust up. Now 5 clicks is on and 6 is really on! The whole process took about an hour tops. I hope this helps. Cheers, Bill. (Sorry, no photo's).
  15. Looking gorgeous!!! I especially like the Lights and Wheels..... Where did you get the lights from as a matter of interest?? And some really nice photo's aswell - Cool!
  16. Hi. Can someone in the know please tell me how the Fuel Reserve Light works? I've had mine come on on the rare occasion when I have been low on Fuel, ie just touching the "E" Line. Not often, maybe 3 times in total. But recently the Gauge has gone below that line and still no Warning Light. The little Warning Light is just below the actual Fuel Gauge and lights up Yellow and sort of changes in intensity dependant on how much of the Reserve you have used I suppose. I thought maybe the Bulb had blown but having a look I see no corresponding Bulb anywhere near where it should be. I even removed the Rear White Plastic Panel to see if it was hidden - but zilch, nada! Can anyone throw some light, (pun not intended) on the subject please??? Thanks, Bill.
  17. I was under the impression that the Spec for these engines was "ACEA A3/B3"...??? Although I could be totally wrong just like my kuk advice on spark plugs.... But then again my engine strangely enough loves them!
  18. Thanks for your kind words.... And yes, quite blatantly so - I apologise. But seeing as I'm the threads originator I thought a bit of artistic licence would not be frowned upon too much.....
  19. Hi Paul. Yes, you might as well be..... Not sure about the other side, (Passenger/Nearside) didn't even bother - in fact I might just leave things as they are as the Brakes work fine. But a real stupid design about putting the Hydraulic Brake Fluid Union right behind the Slider Bolt. Obviously a 'Monday' design....
  20. Well, went to replace my Rear Brake Pads today and basically fell at the first hurdle! First problem was is that you cannot get a Socket onto the Top Slider Bolt, and bloody thing too tight to use a piddly 12mm Spanner! So after Clamping the Pipe with appropriate Clamp I had to remove the Brake Fluid Pipe Connector so as to gain access to the Bolt with a Socket. And even then I had to use a Breaker Bar!!! (And this was after copious amounts of Penetrating Spray). The Bottom was easier. Got the Caliper off and actually found the Pads to be only about 30% Worn and in good condition. Anyway, I thought I would give the Sliders a good clean and lube - top one, no problemo, was nice and slippery. Now for the bottom one - mmmmm, seems a bit tight. Actually totally immovable! Try twisting, hammering, you name it.... After a good 30 minutes of trying I gave up - BEATEN!!! So, I put everything back as I found it until I can take off the Caliper Holder and take it to my friendly garage to loosen it up. Which will probably be on Tuesday as I need to use the car on Monday for the Vet.... Annoyed or what. There was some ripe language.....
  21. Hi Paul. Yes, it was a beautiful place - sadly politics have ruined it somewhat now. But only after 1999 did it deteriorate badly. I actually went there with my folks in 1965, Pre-UDI and left eventually in 1999. Saw the writing on the wall. Southern Africa is now finished, gone the way of the rest of it. You're quite welcome to go there as a tourist and spend thousands, but to live - it's over. But I was blessed for the time I had, and loved every minute - it was my home. A Poem I once read about a Force I was once in.... "The BSAP" They Northward rode across the land, Mopani forest , scrub and sand. Young troopers far from England's green To take a land few yet had seen. For Queen, for country and for law Set to inspire a sense of awe And friend and foe alike amaze For these were England's glorious days. And when that century had died There followed on a force of pride The B.S.A.P. had had it's birth And now was still to prove its worth. Across Rhodesia's varied lands They held the reins in steady hands. Kept the peace, upheld the law Until there came unwanted war. We fought to keep what had been won So little time, so little done. To none our faults could we atone None at our backs we stood alone. With courage, honour, sense of pride Black and white stood side by side. As did those troopers long before With fortitude our role we bore. We saw as they, Zambesi's dawn The noble sable, lions yawn. Watched the jumbo's ponderous tread The spiralled horns of kudu's head. The brilliant flash of blue jay's flight The flying ants round camp fire light. The fleet impala make its run The glorious sight of setting sun. But in an ever changing scene Where time erases what has been We watched a land revert and change To values we considered strange. But all of us can feel with pride The comradeship nought can deride And in our hearts know what is meant Each time we toast "The Regiment". Nothing more to say really.....
  22. Yes, it was considering it was July and in Virginia in can get blooming cold in Winter at night/early morning! Below freezing, but dry, dry, dry! So I only left after 10am when it was a bit warmer. The problem back then was that motorbikes were not allowed in the overhead motorway through Johannesburg so I had to ride through it from south to north, which took me a good 2 hours because of traffic and getting lost. (I had never ridden through Jo'burg before). So by the time I got through it was already around 3pm! Also there was no Motorways outside the cities, just what you would call 'A' roads and very remote. You could drive for an hour and not see another soul.... Except animals on the road. No pleasant. I eventually made it to the Border at around 10pm. and booked into a Motel there for the night. Four hours of riding at night through the bush is quite tiring. Also for the last couple of hours I had a car on my tail which was really freaking me out, and just stayed there no matter what speed I did. But when I pulled into the Motel it followed me in and out popped a young lady hoping that she hadn't scared me too much by following me, but explained that she did it in case anything happened. It was the nicest thing I had heard in a long time - gives me goosebumps just thinking about it now. But that was what people were like to each other back then. Nothing was too much trouble. Anyway, after crossing the border the next morning in the heat of the Lowveld I eventually reached Harare in the late afternoon.... So yes, quite a ride...lol. (Apologies for the boring story - I get carried away). Postimages - yes, I like it. Thanks for the link Dave...
  23. Thought I might try this Postimages site.... The only other Honda I've owned - amongst others with only 2 wheels.... I had just ridden up to Harare from Virginia, RSA to see my then GF, now wife.on my new Bike.... Quite a ride. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Virginia,+Free+State,+South+Africa/Harare,+Zimbabwe/@-22.8994996,24.010257,6z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x1e919f8a06cc9bb3:0x42f3569f51e956e6!2m2!1d26.8556955!2d-28.1063858!1m5!1m1!1s0x1931a4ee1bdddb35:0xa5143b9be5134f2f!2m2!1d31.03351!2d-17.8251657?hl=en
  24. First of all, I know Eicher are cheap option, and I have not disputed that. That is why I personally would only fit them on the rear wheels... Wow, I hope I don't have to explain that again... I have never fitted the 'Green Stuff' Pads - I have only ever fitted/used the Ultimax-II Pads, which strangely enough are nearly a quarter of the price.... (£25.00). I fitted them on my R75 and BMW previously, and now the HAC and all I can say is that everytime there was an improvement! Without question. And as far as Brake-Fade goes I have only experienced this once on the road driving, (very enthusiastically) a CRX down a long and winding mountain pass descending about 3000 feet in the process, which got so bad I had to eventually almost slow down to a crawl because I had literally no brakes!!! Strangely enough the person sitting next to me at the time, (who was the owner) stated that they had never in 3 years of ownership had experienced this phenomenon...lol. (Their words). Just goes to show...... And to be honest brake fade has just as much to do with shite brake fluid and deteriorated hydraulic rubber hoses than anything else. And this particular problem can often be caused by using high performance Discs and Pads without upgrading the other components like Calipers and Hoses. So until I personally experience otherwise, EBC will be good enough for me.
