  1. Believe it or not I've actually been very near there, even saw a sign for the place when I did my Hand, Arm Vibration Training at WATA in Huntingdon. I stayed in a B&B in King's Ripton not far away.
  2. I like the way they give a 30 Day Extended Warranty..... The law says you have a 3 Month automatic warranty on any second hand car bought from a dealer. It is quite true that they do not have to be 'offered' as it is given by law and there is no way a dealer can opt out of this situation. Nice looking motor though! (Except the colour - Silver is a pet hate of mine).
  3. I agree, if you have another car you can use whilst repairing just in case it doesn't work and then have to wait a couple of days for a replacement, yes.... It's just that personally with certain electrical components I prefer new, if cheap enough.
  4. I know a lot of electrical parts are repairable, but for the sake of 60 odd quid, (less than what you would pay for a meal for 2 at a restaurant these days!) surely it would be beneficial to just purchase a new one...??? That's what I did and I'm so poor I can't even pay attention...
  5. Sorry. Yes, just messaged the guy and put him on the right track... But I didn't mention anything about the price...???
  6. I always warm up the car, and generally longer in Winter. And with the Honda after a minute or so I put it in Drive and hold it for another couple of minutes. I just find the Gearbox behaves better when doing this. As far as I'm concerned it cannot hurt, especially as nearly all my journeys are very short - only up to a couple of miles usually. It's just been a habit of mine as a carry-over of owning old cars in Zim. Like Anglias, Minis, VW Karmann Ghias, Humber Super Snipes etc where you had to play with the choke for a while before thinking of going anywhere!
  7. Thank you.... That part on mine is still 'like new'. I'm not even sure that it is painted at all...???? Looks just like polished aluminium to me.
  8. Right..... I've gone and done something that I reckon will most probably go against the grain with most of you, (which will only need about 3 or 4 of you ) and sprayed the aluminium Inlet Manifold, (the part you can see anyway) Satin Black. (Yes, I like my Satin Black ). I'll let the photo's do the talking - easier that way. I think it looks alright, and has got to be an improvement in my mind, and modernises the Bay a little bit. And whilst I was looking I noticed the Heat Guard on the Exhaust Manifold at the front was looking a bit tatty so I removed that and sprayed that too! (Surprised as to how easy the bolts were to remove!). The paint is Heat Resistant so should be ok. I haven't fitted it yet as I want to be 100% dry before replacing it as it's a bit of a tight fit to get it located. Also I gave it a blast in the Oven at 80*C for 10 minutes to speed up the curing aswell. Ciao.
  9. Hi Dave. The actual wheels are wider as in the "J" Size, 7.5 I believe. But the ET, (offset) is correct, that being '55'. And as you know they are 18 inch wheels fitted with 235/40x18 tyres. Similar to these: https://www.gumtree.com/p/wheel-rims-tyres/honda-civic-fn2-type-r-18-alloy-wheels-tyres-refurbished-as-new-condition/1215733260
  10. Sorry to disappoint Dave. If anything it seems quite 'Jacked' to me - but I like it the Hot-Roddish stance. I think this photograph demonstrates what I'm trying to mean:
  11. Correct.... I just didn't want to point this out.
  12. Today I decided to Swap Wheels/Tyres front to rear and vice-versa. They seem to be wearing quite evenly over the last what, 11 months. (Actually bought the car almost exactly a year ago now!). There is slightly more wear on the outside of the fronts and inside of the rears - but ever so slight, which is normal in my humble opinion. Took some photo's so the more discerning eye can pass judgement...... ***Outside of Tyre nearest the wall*** Ciao.
  13. So, didn't you bother to get 'Engaged' to your Wife before you Married her? (Presuming you are/got Married)... Also I tend to 'Select' gears then 'Engage' the Clutch...lol....
  14. Should be 55 Although according to some it can be anything between 45 & 55.
  15. And just to further on from Dave, generally Offset/ET is a 'Positive' number. ie. the lower the Number the more the wheels will stick out. And the Offset/ET is basically what it says - it offsets the difference between the Pivot Point and the face of where the Wheel meets the Disc/Drum. I believe this measurement is in millimeters.
  16. I'm with you there regarding cleaning - I've got into the habit now of Cleaning the Wheels first separately - having a cuppa, then washing the car. Seems less of a schlep that way. Agree about having Winter Wheels/Tyres. And yes, I remember the days when if a car had a 100000kms on the clock it seemed a lot - but really it was only about 62000 miles...lol.
  17. No, not at all Pete...lol. It's just sometimes I forget - if anything it's me that's bad.... And yes, the BBC should know better! but then again they are a bunch arseholes!
  18. Apologies, but I lived in Southern Africa for 30 odd years and they went Metric in 1970 (Rhodesia) - but they did it properly and went the whole hog. Pounds, (£) to Dollars, Inches to Centimeters etc; Miles to Kilometers and Pounds, (weight) to Kilograms/Grams all overnight on the 1st Jan 1970. It was quite strange actually because in July 1970 I returned to England to do my High Schooling so had to revert back to Imperial until it changed again, (for me anyway) in January 1971...lol. I remember at school they were all amazed at how easy I found it. Anyway, that is why I sometimes inadvertently say Kilometers.... Actually I can imagine, or rather calculate, in my mind's eye how far a Kilometer is easier than a Mile....
  19. Dropping to 17's from 18's will exacerbate the issue. Smaller circumference equals more revolutions per kilometer. Why do you think small wheels like on the older Mini and trailers only last a few thousand miles.... Also as they spin faster they build up more heat increasing wear even more. DON'T DO IT!
  20. Yes, that is what I was meaning. But even generally it is not my favourite. The only time I normally use it is when I am referring to a friend or close acquaintance to a third party, as in: "yes, he's a mate of mine".
  21. Personally, and I know judgemental, but anything with the term "mate" mentioned puts me off straight away. When I hear it they might as well be speaking a four-word expletive because it feels to me just the same. Makes me cringe... I just hate it!
  22. These were the ones I was looking at and when you include the (exorbitant) cost of delivery, the price is quite crazy! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/98-02-Accord-Coupe-2D-Red-Clear-Tail-Lights-Outer-2-pcs/310851347623?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  23. I agree, they do look very nice. But I still do not think that £100+ and then the modification of the Wiring/Holders is justifiable for the sake of having clear Indicators. And then the cost of changing the Repeaters aswell, and Bulbs makes it even more expensive. Even if I had that sort of money spare I wouldn't do it. I'd rather spend that money on mechanicals - far more beneficial in the long run. But as you say it's all down to personal choice I suppose..... Also the Red Plastic doesn't quite match the Original Plastic of the Centre Light Cluster, and especially the Reverse Lights. The Original just looks more holistic in overall finish.
