Honda Shuttle & Odyssey Purchase Suggestions "LINKS"

It looks a lovely example π -
Itβs made me feel very sad has this. I picked this car back in the fall of 2007 with my late stepfather. Iβm sure Stu and Nikki are upset too as Nikkiβs father owned it for a good few years. Iβm reminded of that thief who broke into a garage in Swindon to rob a cat, only to have a car fall and crush him to death. I thought it was awful, but right now I canβt think of a more befitting punishment.

Absolutely yeah. Will post some pictures soon π

Just driven it 125 miles on just over a quarter of a tank and itβs purring like a kitten. Thanks to Stu for working so hard on it over this last week for us all. The pooch jumped in as soon as I opened the boot π

24 years old. 42000 miles from new and no rot I can see underneath. A bargain for 2k. Stu is already working his magic. What a friend he is π

I get such good mpg on the triumph, V6 and jazz using the Smith and Allan 10w30, I just never bother with anything else. -
Itβs been a wonderful car has that one. It was my first Accord back in 2007 and glad to see itβs been so well cared for since then π

I had my V6 airbag recall notice over 1 year ago. Rang my local Derby dealership to book it in. They booked it in and then telephoned me back an hour or so later to cancel it, citing they didnβt have the airbags in stock. They were on back order, didnβt know when they would be in and that they would contact me when they had them. A year later and no reply, somewhat miffed I rang around other dealerships to see if I could get it sorted. Nottingham dealership had the airbags, booked it in for a week later. They had wonderful phone skills and visiting them, they made me feel like nothing was too much trouble. I donβt think I have ever felt like that at any other main dealership. I came away with a smile as they all praised the condition of the car and said it was a wonderful example. Nottingham is a bit further for me, but I know where I would go and advise others to go.

On good road surface it feels like a magic carpet, but on damaged surfaces it can sound like someone rattling a box of maltesers π

Not so much What Have I done to my Coupe Today, but more like what I have done in 2021π I took Bluey in for an MOT back in July and it failed on a fractured front spring. They couldn't source the parts in the UK, so the garage said I could source the parts and they would heavily discount the fitting as a favour to me. I was about to order a pair of shock assemblies from Rock Auto (couldn't see the point in changing one), when fortunately for me Stu (AKA Hughezee) intervened and told me the listed parts were not the best choice. I therefore cheated by using his knowledge to order some KYB assemblies, namely KYB SR4074 and SR4075. It was also logical to order the drop links at the same time, namely Delphi TC1210 and TC1211. After further chats with Stu, I decided to do this job myself rather than allow the garage to get brutal with it and potentially damage the new components that I had paid a considerable sum to get shipped from the USA. I started by having a read of the Haynes manual to see what was involved. It seemed fairly straight forward. Once I got in front of the car, I was a little puzzled as the manual says to drop the lower control arms to allow access to removing the old shock. Another quick call to Stu, who told me the upper wishbone needs to be lowered to obtain access for removal and subsequently re-installation, and the penny dropped. I had my better half Michelle support the old assembly, whilst undoing the fork bolt and the upper mounting nuts. I was then able to slide the assembly out. I also asked Michelle to put the upper mounting nuts on the new assembly after feeding it up. I guess it can be done by oneself, but much easier with two of you. Following this, I had to tackle the drop links. Easy enough to remove the old ones by knocking off the plastic locking tabs, using locking pliers on the joint and removing the nut. This is where I eventually learned the importance of re-using the M10 nuts from the old Honda drop links. Sure, the replacement Delphi Links had new nuts, but M10 nuts generally need a 17mm spanner, and you simply cannot use a 17mm spanner due to the recess as shown in the picture below. The existing Honda M10 flange nuts are 15mm and that 2mm discrepancy makes all the difference. Also I noticed the thread must have an imperial (or american metric) pitch, as conventional M10 nuts stop after a couple of turns on the thread. All of this may sound trivial, but I actually spent ages trying to get new nuts on, only to revert to the old Honda ones. I suspect for the price of the genuine Honda drop links, they will come with the uniquely sized nuts π Anyhow following this, the car passed the MOT with only tyre advisories (which I knew about) and drives beautifully smooth and silently on decent surfaced road. It doesn't drive as nicely on damaged road surface (i.e most of our roads), so Stu has kindly agreed to cast a beady eye over my work to see what could be done to improve this.... Over to you Stuπ

Yeah, the triumph exhaust is still fine. I think next year Iβll be treating myself to an exhaust for the V6 at MIJ too π

Very well looked after. It certainly would have been on the scrap heap long ago without Stuβs intervention π

Many moons ago when I was a television engineer, I came across an old radio manual (Hitachi) I think. The translation thus.... Errect aerial for immense pleasure. It caused a few laughs in the workshop π
