Debadging

Last year the "da" fell off the boot of my coupe. Stuart gave me a new Honda badge that has been living in the side pocket of the boot ever since. While cleaning the car I found that the "Accord" badge was about to fall off so I removed it along with the "2.0 ES" badge. I cleaned everything up in readiness of sticking than all back on, but now I quite like the look.

I have always intended to keep the car as original as possible, but now I'm not so sure, what do other people think?

Have to say I like it too .........but I also like the fact the badges tell the uninitiated what the car is !

Oh, I don't know !

I think I now have the 'Mavis" affliction from "Open all Hours"  !!!!!!😛

I like it, minimalist in a good way. I'd give the boot lid some treatment with paint cleaner, polish and wax to help remove any colour discrepancies from where the sun hasn't bleached the paint where the badges were - i'm sure Ahsy can give you advice on that! ;):D

Thank you all for your feedback. It will stay as it is then. I didn't notice any difference between the paint under the badges, I will look closer, but there are bigger issues with paint flaking on the rear bumper and scratches on the top of the boot which should be dealt with first anyway. I will store the badges away somewhere safe in case I change my mind sometime in the future, or if Stu wants his Honda badge back!

@AhsyV6 your car looks stunning from that angle! I certainly have a long way to go.

My biggest regret is that I no longer have my gold Accord and Honda badge. What an absolute plonker!

Thanks mate but I guess all our coupes look like that at that angle. Just lovely cars

Your coupe is one of the best maintained one i ever saw, a real pleasure to look at.

Is the car body dent free ? It look like the body and paint is totaly immaculate...

Thank you mate.

95% of the paint work is original. I have a small dent on the drivers wheel arch from a hit and run a few years ago. Never had it fixed as I was too paranoid of the spray job id get. I then decided to drive in to a metal post a couple of years ago in my office car park and pushed in the edge of the drivers door and rear panel that meets it. Had it pulled out by a PDR specialist and it’s 80% now But I hate it coz I know it’s there and see it every time I walk to the car. To have that straighten and painted would cost a lot and they would have to blow in most of the drivers side. Maybe one day. I have a 2” patch of missing paint on the rear bumper below the passenger side rear light where it meet the body. I think this area had a smart repair and has over time worn away probably from jet wash usage.

You mentioned “best Maintained” ....you’ll find Stus is the best maintained inside and out and I wish mine could be.

If i'm not mistaken those are Accord Type R wheels. As for the taillights those aren't oem, they were made by Depo some years ago and are discontinued. Still possible to found them used but a quite difficult task.

Thanks mate.....The wheels are the original Honda 17” Motegi alloys (Main dealership option) on DUNLOP Sport Maxx 225’s. I removed the centre caps to expose the nuts. Had the open headed nuts replaced with chrome closed nuts. They've been powder coated Shadow Chrome. I also bought chrome universal curved centre caps and bought a set of metal curved H emblem discs to stick to the caps. They’re worn now and need replacing.

Spot on.

These are my second pair I bought about 6 years ago as the first pair started to get condensation. I sold those. Stu bought a pair too but I think he sold his too.

"Your cart is empty!"

https://www.andysautosport.com/products/depo__317-1977PXASVCR.html

That's the product, it disappears from the cart when you do the link so others can't see any personal details. 🙄

Wally-world (Walmart) also have the pair listed for $48.63 but are out of stock. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Depo-317-1977PXASVCR-Driver-And-Passenger-Side-Tail-Light-For-98-03-Honda-Accord/650369465

I tried the UK Depo website but wasn't helpful, didn't have a stockist list. Maybe finding a stockist and then asking them for a pair of 317-1977PXASVCR which appears to be the part number for the pair might work?
