1991 Mk1 Legend Coupé Owner

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

I found this site through the Gumtree advert admin have put up. I originally had an Accord Coupe 2.0 auto some years back in black. Had 110,000 on it and wasn't maintained well at all. Needless to say for these cars, the auto transmission was a dog so sold shortly after.

Since 2011 I have been driving a Civic Coupe EM2, and earlier this year (May) after 2 years of looking, I found myself a Legend Coupe. 72,000 miles. Lovely condition.

Full gallery of the car over on my Facebook Legend Owners page (also has a sister group if anyone wants to look it up)

Thanks for the welcome. Lovely car, have always liked them since spotting one years ago (about 1999-2000) when my dad had the Accord saloon with full Type R body kit (all Honda parts).

The Legend is living in storage right now and EM2 is a daily but Iain another Mk1 owner and myself are hoping to attend show season 2016 and show them off.

Who is the owner of the mk1 legend. Need to get them on board :P.

I am up in Glasgow so 9 times out of 10 these meets aren't really something I can attend on a whim. I do a couple of events annually right enough including Honda day in Corby.

I think you guys should definitely get a club stand for the next Corby Honda Day which is the biggest Honda event.

I run Honda Day Scotland and our second national meet this year was good but sadly the morning weather put a lot off.

I know all about no excuses as I say it's a 7 hour drive and overnight stay for me to attend Honda Day in Corby haha!

Welcome to the Honda 6 Forum Rydo.  We're all a friendly bunch.  Your Legend is a minter, lovely example and there's only 7 left on the road with 13 SORN!  They're rarer than the proverbial Unicorn poop!!  Bet you cherish it and like me, when you park at Asda, you find the emptiest bit of the car park?  :D

~Welcome along Rydo, cracking version of the 2nd best looking Legend coupe  ;)

Anyone willing to stay overnight in Corby is a brave man, though if your from Scotland at least you have the right accent to stop the "plastics" giving you some abuse!

I originate from the next town over, Kettering, and there is a lot of bad feeling between the two towns, though corby is a rough old shithole, there's a reason they called it the Rockingham Speedway and not the Corby chav arena  ;)

I didnt know there was a Honda day at Rockingham, I'm only about 30 min away from the Speedway, I'll keep an eye out for it in the coming year.

Yes, I had it parked up once in the short time it was out of storage and it was well away from any other car.

It goes under the guise Mimms Honda Day, which is the stupidest name on Earth seeing as it left the South Mimms services about 2-3 years ago. I refuse to refer to it as that. You wouldn't call a Honda Day in Glasgow 'Edinburgh Honda Day'. The principal is the same. That's why my Honda day is just called 'Honda Day Scotland', and we've operated meets the past 2 years in June time :).

I actually stayed over nearer to London where a fellow EM2 enthusiast lives. I'm not sure of any rep Corby has but thanks for the heads up haha!

Wow, the legend coupe looks great - don't think I've ever seen one of those before.

It looks like there are 4 electric window switches - does that mean the back windows go down?

The only bit I don't approve of is the illegal rear number plate.

Rear windows in a Mk2 Legend coupe go up and down, so in sure they do in this as well.

Thanks for positive responses again.

I doubt you will have ever seen one. I didn't know the car existed in any form until around 2 years ago when my hunt started. Love at first sight type affair.

The he rear windows do indeed electrically go up and down and can be controlled by rear passenger switches also.

Sadly however Honda cheaped out and it's not pillar less like a Mercedes. The rear windows also roll down in the oddest manner. They only roll about 2/3 of the way down and then make an odd shape as if only one side of the glass dropped. That's how they are supposed to roll down too, the 2nd gen does the same.

I suspect i'm going to upset you now. There's a dark blue one floating around here on UK plates, a red one on USA plates and a third in my local scrapyard.

I've had 3 pillarless coupes in the past where the rear windows go down electrically, the Datsun Skyline there's a picture of in the thread you commented on. The rear windows in that did something a bit odd too, difficult to describe but bear with me and try to make sense of the nonsense i'm about to type!

Basically instead of going straight down, they went down on angle about halfway between straight (vertical) down and the angle the rear slope of the window glass made with the body which was about 45 degrees ish. So the window went down at about 22.5 degrees off vertical. It worked only because it was pillarless, if it had a pillar it would look weird!
