Founding Member AhsyV6 Posted October 12, 2014 Founding Member Report Share Posted October 12, 2014 I just thought I'd share this with you guys. I bought my car without the spare keys and remote fob and finally got round to ordering the fob from EBay the other day. It only cost £30 incl p&p which I thought was brilliant considering Honda want over £150 and then another charge to programme it. I ordered it from The Remote Doctor and he sends the programming instructions with it. To say I was impressed with how easy and quick it was to programme the remote is an understatement! I thought I would just post the instructions just incase anyone needs them in the future. HONDA REMOTE FOB PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE CODES ARE STORED IN ORDER IN THE VEHICLES SECURITY MEMORY. THE SECURITY SYSTEM ACCEPTS UP TO 3 REMOTES, IF YOU REPROGRAMME ANOTHER REMOTE TO THE SYSTEM “NOW A 4th” THE FIRST REMOTE WILL THEN BE DELETED. WHEN YOU ENTER THE PROGRAMME MODE THIS THEN CANCELS ALL REMOTES THAT WERE ORIGINALLY STORED. YOU MUST REPROGRAMME ALL OF THE REMOTES YOU WISH TO USE ONCE YOU ARE IN PROGRAMME MODE. YOU MUST COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING STEPS WITHIN 4 SECONDS OF THE PREVIOUS STEP TO CORRECTLY PROGRAMME THE REMOTE. 1, TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO THE ON POSITION (II) 2, PRESS THE LOCK OR UNLOCK BUTTON ON ONE OF THE REMOTES. 3, TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION (0) 4, REPEAT STEPS 1,2,3 TWO MORE TIMES USING THE SAME REMOTE. 5, TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO THE ON POSITION (II) 6, PRESS THE LOCK OR UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE SAME REMOTE. THE DOOR LOCK SYSTEM WILL NOW CYCLE “LOCKS WILL LOCK THEN UNLOCK” 7, WITHIN 10 SECONDS PRESS LOCK OR UNLOCK BUTTON ON EACH REMOTE THAT YOU WISH TO USE ON THE VEHICLE. 8, MAKE SURE THE DOOR LOCK SYSTEM CYCLE EACH TIME AFTER PRESSING THE BUTTON, THIS THEN CONFIRMS THAT THE REMOTE WAS ACCEPTED. 9, TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION (0) TO EXIT PROGRAMMING MODE. 10, NOW MAKE SURE EACH REMOTE OPERATES THE CENTRAL LOCKING CORRECTLY. 1

Founding Member AhsyV6 Posted October 12, 2014 Author Founding Member Report Share Posted October 12, 2014 Thanks mate. Just wondered if anyone knows how to programme a key? I bought a blank key with a chip in it and as yet have had it cut. I have a feeling it may require a trip to a Honda Dealership?
Founding Member AhsyV6 Posted October 17, 2014 Author Founding Member Report Share Posted October 17, 2014 On a similar note does anyone know how to programme a new/blank key with a chip in it? I've looked on line and can't find any instructions, it looks like a trip to the dealership unless you guys know of a way. I'll go and get the key cut tomorrow. Administrators hughezee Posted October 17, 2014 Administrators Report Share Posted October 17, 2014 You can do it yourself, if you have a learning Key, but it not something I’m willing to share as sometimes the immobiliser can have a spaz and render all existing keys useless and if you haven’t got the software to sort it you will just end up with a more expensive trip to the dealer or alarm specialist anyway. Just for Ref: The immobilizer system can store up to five key codes and if it is necessary to rewrite the immobilizer control unit to learn a new key, the dealer needs the customer’s vehicle, all its master keys and valet keys, its learning key and the Honda PGM Tester equipped with an immobilizer program card. Also any key that is not learned during rewriting will not longer start the engine Sorry I couldn't help more m8y
TomG
My car came with 3 keys but no fobs. Do the fobs come with batteries in? Will all my keys still work if I buy 2 replacement fobs and follow those instructions to program them? Cheers!

blackstreet62
Hi Stu can I ask...can I just get a key cut from my original key? is there a chip in the key? can I buy an additional fob key from the remote doctor and programme it as per the video? what happens if you don't programme it within the times you set out? does that mean it will wipe all the remotes and your buggered to get your car started? a bit nervous in starting and then stumbling and all the remote's get wiped !! Administrators hughezee Posted March 16, 2015 Administrators Report Share Posted March 16, 2015 You can add up to 2 additional fobs to the original two that would have come with car, which can be re-programmed as per the video. However for a new coded key it’s advisable to pop down to your local Honda dealer or somebody with the HDS software. New key including cutting and coded/ programmed should be about £65.00 but it depends on the size of the dealer if they can do everything in house e.g key cutting, if they don’t it could be more expensive?
CharlesM
A supplemental question. I have one fob with a key that starts the car, and three keys without fobs that don't start the car. I assume that I need to get a new coded key cut to have a spare, as the 3 spares are simply for unlocking but not driving?
Founding Member Mazda Man Posted March 26, 2016 Founding Member Report Share Posted March 26, 2016 I think they're 'valet keys' Charles, are they coloured grey or red? They can usually start the car but won't allow access to the boot/glovebox/tank cover I believe, I may be wrong. It's for when you pull up a Monte Carlo Casino with a £1M in the boot, you keep the master key in your tuxedo and throw the valet key to the concierge to park it.
CharlesM
They are grey - they open the door but absolutely no starting of the car. I tried all of them just in case.
