Administrators hughezee Posted September 22, 2015 Administrators Report Share Posted September 22, 2015 Well I had a radiator leak and rather than cracking a egg white in there or using rad weld I decided to just replace it Also rather than try and disconnect every hose attached to the radiator I just removed the hoses with the best access and since I was replacing my in-line ATF filter and installing a transmission fluid cooler I removed the battery and tray. So the lower hose which connected to the thermostat housing and the cooler hoses from the gearbox lines where the easy option. but don't forget to unplug all cables and clips ect Quick test fit and eye spied the ideal location to run the ATF cooler hoses Also I decided to prime the system with transmission fluid and to see if was free flowing with no obstructions. Now once everything is re-assembled and you have topped of the coolant, also check your transmission fluid level then start the engine and check for anything might be a miss e.g leaks , all good now proceed to burp the cooling system of air... Founding Member Mazda Man Posted November 7, 2017 Founding Member Report Share Posted November 7, 2017 Happy days Rich, how many miles do you do in a week, just curious? I only do literally 10 a day to work and back plus weekends so not racking up any mileage, mileometer has been on 109k forever!
Founding Member Retro Rich Posted November 27, 2017 Founding Member Report Share Posted November 27, 2017 Hi Geoff, I average about 250-300 miles per week, but I’m using a Honda Jazz as a daily driver now. Plan to keep the V6 in very nice condition ? That’s why I do the oil changes every 3 months or 3000 miles, whichever is sooner ?
Administrators hughezee Posted March 21, 2019 Author Administrators Report Share Posted March 21, 2019 @MIKE_RAVEN Radiator removed and a quick shot of the new radiator with a cooler pipe appropriately sprayed in the colour heather mist and wax sealed... Still, a long way to go before fitting the radiator though, rust rectification, painting, sealing, new nuts bolts, hoses, pipes, hose clamps etc etc

Ah that maybe something I'd have to look into replacing or at least have to hand. Regarding the atf-u fluid. Is it bad for the carplan stuff to be mixed with what will be left over in the gearbox when I change or it is bad for it to be mixed with the amsoil good stuff? FYI: old fluid won't mix with new fluid easily, but all new fluids will mix, I cannot imagine any problems mixing ATF-U with Amsoil...
