Well, I stick the coupe in for the MOT a week ago and she went straight through, I was happy to say the least.

Today however, there was a whine/whistle on start up that follows the revs and I think, it's the alternator.

Stu replaced the water pump and belts a couple of years back, so I don't think it's the water pump.

I think my time with the car might be over...

Would be a shame to dump it, just because of an alternator.

I got the Cam belt kit complete with water pump and seals from them but bought the hydraulic tensioner separately. Went for the shorter type which supposedly can be reset. They are interchangeable.

All through EBay who now have an export hub in Kentucky.... excellent service

    Good luck Jon

thanks, I suppose you have to go through the US eBay site, to access them here?

Feeling inspired by my new MOT I got stuck in to some serious and somewhat overdue maintenance. New oil and filter and a part change of tranny fluid. Blew the air filter clean and put it back, could still see the sun through it. Cooling system back flush and a new thermostat. Changed the cam belt and water pump (again !) after another 63k and new antifreeze. Got all the bits from the States and saved a mint. Genuine Chinese copies appeared fine to me. Car is running beautifully right now......just hope it lasts. Worked out the plugs have done 60k without missing a beat so they can stay put for now. Having replaced the CVJ's earlier in the year I ended up with two complete and brand new kits which I can't see me needing. Long and boring story. If anyone is in need give me a tug. Happy motoring, cheers Jon

who is the US supplier you use?

  4. Timing belt kit and water pump back in stock now, and my local garage has now fitted these! Great stuff. It was a good 10 years since it was last replaced, and while I have not noticed any difference at low speeds, it feels a lot smoother at higher speeds, 40mph plus. Apparently Blueprint kit.

So to hear of your troubles, the fuel is pumped up & out at the top of the tank and you should only lose residual fuel from the lines, releasing the filler cap first should avoid any sudden bursts of fuel.

I am guessing you were trying to replace the fuel filter or you are replacing a fuel line or hose???

All done now. Couldn't get the hang of how the push fit connector went on the filter, and all the O rings fell out on to the floor and also in the pan that was slowly filling up with unleaded! Managed to prop the pipe up above the low level of petrol in the tank to stop it all dribbling out, but the driveway still smells like a refinery!

Once I found how all the O rings went back together, I managed to get it all back together and no leaks either. This picture shows a rough idea as to how the rings go back, which seemed logical for the fuel filter. Basically, if I'm right, it's  -O ring, spacer, Oring and then the collett on top which mates with the male end and spring clip.

  6. Wow, wish I'd read this post 4 days ago! I covered my dashboard with a dark felt material, to help with reflections in the windscreen, which did work very well actually, but the felt was looking a bit tired, and by the time I removed it , a sticky residue from the double sided spongey tape crap that I had used remained.  I tried lots of different fluids to remove it, and the only one that was effective was cellulose thinners. Unfortunately, one patch closest to the windscreen started reacting and like you guys have already said, there is a thin film of plastic or something covering the dashboard, and it started to come away. I paniced a bit, but it didn't look too bad after letting it dry properly and rubbing it with that horrible black trim creamy stuff. Could have been a lot worse. Any other ideas about preventing reflections?

It was thanks, not an awful lot of choice out there eh. There's a couple breaking V6s. Sometimes if you put it on as 'watching' they'll send a reduced offer price the next day. This one didn't, but the guys breaking the black v6 do.

There's a wiper mechanism and motor up but its £35

No, just a black lug which is part of the rear moulding that a grey box slides onto. But nothing to obvious to pinch it to release. One from ebay was snapped off. Managed to slide mine of eventually, with a bang though.

I had a boot bin off of this seller, to replace the 6xCD changer that was now superfluous following a stereo upgrade. He put it up for £25 and I made a counter offer of £18, which he accepted. Looks really neat now in the boot, and nearly symmetrical , and very Zen!! Also had the exhaust from them as well, which I put an offer in of £150 which was accepted, and came down on a pallet from Scotland (see previous posts). Good service I will say. My back yard is looking a bit like a scrap yard now though, what with bits off my StreetKa as well! That is a very fun car by the way!

I was going to say "Its C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S!!!!!" but we're a few months short of that.

I wondered about it being an exhaust system but had a brain fart and thought there would be two long pipes so ignored the idea! 🙄

The seller had to remove the tailpipes and secure them separately on the pallet. Very well packaged for transport.

This one doesn't seem to have an O2 sensor, should it? To be honest, I'm not bothered as I wanted the tail section really, but it appears that the cat convertor is still in situ. My existing mid section that's on the car has been made up by an exhaust specialist (prior to me buying it) but does have an O2 sensor screwed in.

    Is this not the catalyst?

  11. Certainly a nice colour. Not seen one in red before. Those bulbs in my opinion, are a pain to change if they are anything like the fog light and headlight adjuster switch. They are tiny, with very long wires. Grain of wheat bulbs. Not been able to find original ones. Enjoy your car, I think they're great, and love them for the rarity factor.
