  1. Missed this post first time round, so only just catching up. Glad you're saving another. I note that on 'How Many Left' there are only 174 on the road now, with a similar number on a SORN. That's down about 20% on the previous Quarter. I love the rarity of these cars. Hopefully spares will continue to be available.

Had the conversation today with the existing insurer, Mark Richards, altered a couple of bits to see if it moved the premium....no ! and they can't match cheaper quotes either...

So signed up with Aviva at £183.46, fully comp, including legal cover, courtesy car, windscreen cover, personal cover etc etc ....

Definitely worth the shop around now....I would test the system by trying to get your model into the comparison system, Confused, Money super market, Compare the market etc... Just see if you can find the correct model..

If not, then have the conversation with Compare the market, as I did last year, and with a bit of luck they should add the correct model information to the national insurance database....EVENTUALLY !!

I insured my Vectra last year with Aviva and when I sold it , transferred the Honda to this policy. They wouldn't take it on because they stated it over 20 yrs old. I complained and got my renewal back.

  3. Hi George, great to see you've found the forum. I'm not the most technical guy here, look out for Hughzee.(aka Stu), but always available for an opinion or 3 on lots of subjects. I was featured  (ahhheem😆😆😆) in the recent Classic Retro Modern mag, with my 3.0V6 . Photos featured elsewhere on this site. Please post some photos of your projects. I'm no mechanic or engineer..what is an I Mech E?

Regards the boot trim some have it some don't, I would assume you still have the clip holes on yours and you could still fit one if you wanted?

I would love a boot trim, if anyone has one.

  5. An AC engineer came round the other day and found the leak that others couldn't find. It's the seals in the dryer unit in front of the condenser. I suppose they've been in there 24 years. Didn't want to be charged 2hrs labour to get the bumper on and off, so I'll do that myself. Any excuse to do the little jobs like unseizing the headlight bulbs that had got stuck, and scrubbing up the bumper bar.

A.C refrigerant and PAG46 oil refresh today, I confused the guys at ATS as the system was still full 😂 it was reassuring I don't have any leaks but it is getting on for three years since I last had it done.

The manufacturer recommends replacing their product every two years and I would say they're spot on. The A.C wasn't as cold as should be and the compressor wasn't behaving as it should, so the high and low pressure was out of spec. Anyway, with the new refrigerant, everything is back to normal now and it just shows how important the lubrication is within the system.

May I ask how much they charged you? My local garage charges about 95quid, blaming the cost of the gas, etc, using the Bosch system. But it only lasted 6 months, and my garage spotted no leaks either. There must be a leak somewhere.

Well, my R.A order finally arrived mid-week, so today I decided to fit my new WVE 5S1001 (NGK/NTK made) air intake temp sensor. I was getting some odd readings intermittently and that will affect fuel economy greatly, running even better even now.👍

A new Denso air filter to follow 😁

Hey Stu. Did you get stung by any customs duty on arrival? Also, how were you taking the readings for the air intake?

Yeah, I spotted that, wasn't going to say anything but since you mentioned it 😆 you've featured a 5th Gen accord coupe referenced as a CG5, which is a CD7 not forgetting the rare CD9 model. Also, you referenced your 6th Gen coupe which is a CG2 as the CG6 which is actually a 6th Gen sedan which we didn't get in the UK, just saying. 🤐

Anyway ingore my nit picking, youve done a great job getting these coupes and the club some exposure, thank you. 👍👍👍

Some clever sod needs to write in to the 'I think you'll find' section...... 🤣

The person who originally ordered this old girl just loved ticking the boxes on the exterior options.

Though the SRS light being on is a worry, the bigger worry is 20 year old car living next to the Irish Sea all it's life, it might be a bit crispy underneath.

Obviously the white wheels are a crime against humanity

Have you seen the other Accords listed on that site? A 96 coupe, a 2000 4cyl, a 96 estate and a couple of 2nd gens too.

Job on Coupe this morning was , bumper off, check out windscreen washer motor as it was not working. Headlights washer was OK and I have been using that for a few days to sort of help keep screen clean !!!

Apart from a couple of broken clips and a seized bolt it went without a hitch.

The connector to the motor had a load of crud on and once cleaned / contact cleaned too the motor ran perfectly at full power, better than it has been for quite a while.

Paul was right when he said his had same problem......I have a spare Chinese copy motor in the spares now !!

My pump was knackered / seized, and replaced it 2 years ago with the Amazon Chinese copy, which fitted easily. Still going strong today! Originals are quite expensive, or unobtainable I believe.

  11. I paid £168 with Churchill last year. Ohhh yes......

Thought that was pretty good. I remember when I was selling car insurance for the Co-op Ins many years ago, that insurers look favourably on second cars, which mine is. It's still got a 5,000 mile limit, bit of business use ,wife driving as well, and not even full NCD either. But I stand the chance of them paying market value if i wreck it though. My age helps!! (late 50s ish)😁
