Administrators hughezee Posted November 8, 2021 Administrators Report Share Posted November 8, 2021 Since my RA6 is on its second power steering pump after the internal bearings failed after a part fluid replacement.Β π Following a few experiments with other pumps being compatible, I managed to source a good used pump p/n: 56100-PGM-053. Now the secondhand pump has started giving the same warning signs of imminent failure, although I have managed to keep it happy for a few months with additives.π¬ Nevertheless, to avoid complete failure I decided to contact companies that specialised in PAS pump refurbishment and after several phone calls, emails I decided on Shelley transmission services and I couldn't fault their service.π So Β£270 lighter and about a 7 days turnaround, I haven't fitted the pump but on initial inspection I am confident it is as good as new and I will keep this topic updated anyway.π

Β My guess is they've oversized the bearings a little as there was excessive play in the shaft in all directions and that's all gone now. no other way to fix that unless some machining was involved and it has been balanced and load and pressure tested too. π

Administrators hughezee Posted November 11, 2021 Author Administrators Report Share Posted November 11, 2021 Three part fluid changes following fitting, although have not taken the car out yet as it was a little noisy first start π¬ left overnight for after idling for 10 minutes to let the fluid disperse any air π done this over a couple of days and it's sounding normal now. π€ 2
