Lowering

Usually helps when going to bigger wheels / low profile tyres which tend to "jolt" more than standard due to the lower sidewalls and standard suspension. 

Sure,  by lowering there is a gain to cornering but by adding fully adjustable shocks and matched springs the "jolt" can be dialled out,  certainly made less intrusive, by adjusting dampening and rebound as required. In fact sometimes comfort is much improved. 

However, once again this is to each, his own....
