Like i suggested yesterday, exhaust heat wrap would help.

It might seem a lot but remember that each turn round the pipe is ~150mm so 6 turns will use ~1m and get you about 6-7" along the pipe (you need to overlap it for the best effect) so you may even need more than 5m.

If memory serves, that was a 5m roll i used on my Rover front pipe and a 5m roll on the Volvo front pipe :

Keep meaning to invest in another roll for the R/H down pipe and to finish off both downpipes on the Volvo, hasn't happened yet though!
