Thanks.... My concern is if the are RHD compliant?

I don't know if they will pass the MOT or not but it does have the horizontal and vertical adjusting wheels. Note they dont have the motors so the switch inside the car won't work ofcourse.

I spent some time aligning the beam infront of a wall at some distance and got it to an acceptable level by my eyes. Ofcourse this is without any specialist equipment. Just what looked closest to the stock ones. I've never had anyone flash at me so don't think it kicks up to oncoming traffic.

If it's a major concern I beleive they make these stickers for RHD cars on LHD roads. Surely one exists for vice versa?

I'll try post a pic of the beam at night :)

Oh and ofcourse, there are many tutorials on youtube on how to convert our chrome stock headlights to blacked out look. It does involve baking the headlights in the oven, using some paint on the reflectors, etc. I would only attempt it on a spare pair (someone on the facebook group was selling a pair of stock headlights in good nick!).

A pic of the beam at night (preferably reflecting off something) would be good. It might be they're "universal" dip in which case you should be ok unless you get a fussy tester.

I'll try and get a pic up later of how the beam pattern should look against a wall, i've got a few. ;):D

I'll try get that pic taken asap.

I expect they are "universal dip" since they aren't made in USA, probably Taiwan (can't check but from what I recall) and are available for sale on Asian ebay websites (even Australia I think!) many of which are RHD countries. Like I mentioned I did have to play with the wheels to adjust to what felt acceptable to me (non-scientific). Now I wish I took a pic when doing it lol

Worst comes to worst I can swap out with my stock headlamps before the re-test haha.

Btw did you notice anything about the rear chrome altezza tail lights?

Haha yes red indicators. It wasnt disclosed online where I got them from. I did however clearly state it on my for sale ad so I did my part. To be fair they were still very bright easily visible in day time too so hopefully new owner should be fine with them.

My boot was devoid of most badges when I got it. It had a hideous red TypeS badge too which I promptly got rid off.

Currently the 3.0i has fallen off from over enthusiastic cleaning so all thats on there is the v6. Tried to stick the 3.0i back on but need to get better doublesided tape and cut it around the numbers otherwise will look bad.

Have also ordered a VTEC badge in silver. Not the Spiderman font though. Something more stock looking. Hopefully the item that arrives is like the picture of the ebay ad.

When my Accord badge dropped off I stuck it back with the doublesided tape cut to suit but it came away again..... Sikaflexed it on, sorted !

Is that Sikaflex something like nomorenails? May have some of that laying around (but out of reach of the little one before someone says lol).

Thanks for the tip!

yeah, sort of but there are all sorts of variations but the marine adhesive or panel adhesive, Tiger seal (?) is another one just check that it doesn't react with the paint !

Lol.

Btw can anyone else see my pictures from yesterday's post? Had used a 3rd party hosting service but I can't see the pics anymore on my end :s

I had to edit the post twice as it coursed problems with the site yesterday, script errors and hidden links but regards the pictures they didn't show up to me or viewing as a guest on a different browser, also the links didn't look long enough to link back either. Please feel free to edit the post with the correct picture links and make sure the privacy is set correctly for others to view them ;)

I don't know if Stu has a favourite but i've been using http://postimages.org/

I think Bill has tried it and seems to like it, it works on here and all the other forums i'm on too.

It's also a lot quicker and easier than Photobuck'ay and nowhere near as diva-ish!

I agree, but I think it was just because I was used to PB after so many years. But now I find it quite intuitive. :)

Yep, pb problem for sure, the fact that imgur has no adverts (yet ?) is a bonus !

PB just swamped the place in adverts this last year and spolied it completely.

I can see your pictures, @Mangoman.

Thanks for the link to postimage.org a very easy to use site. Used to take me ages to upload 1 pic at a time before. This was very easy now.

Have re-uploaded the pics to my post now, also thrown in an added bonus (aerial view) pic. It's not showing up properly formatted on my end but maybe its my screen size acting up. Anyway, the pics should be clickable if anyone wanted to get a closer look.  :)

plenty ads but I found having Ghostery as an Add-On helped alleviate that slightly...

I use AdBlock Plus, stops almost all the ads that take ages to load and slow the computer down.

Amazing how much quicker things load without 300 adverts slowing them down! ;):D

  • 2 months later...

Done an oil and oil filter change over the weekend. 10w30 mineral oil from S&A and this time a genuine oil filter.

Didn't get a chance to do the ATF change and install the in line filter. Maybe next weekend.

Diagnostics queries (sorry!) - I had previously mentioned my power steering pump squeeling (especially at full lock). With the engine on I listened and watched hard around that section of the engine bay and noticed my auto tensioner jerking around occassionaly causing a crackling sound too. With the engine turned off i tugged at the tensioner and could feel some play and kind of recreate the sound albeit low volume. The belts themselves look fine. Is it absolutely vital to replace the tensioner asap or can I possibly do it when the belts need replacing?

Edit: clarifying that the jerking around was very slight. I had to watch very intently to even notice it. Its not the tensioner wheel but the metal attachment piece which moves.

If that's what i think it is, it sounds like normal behaviour as the belt goes tight/slack with the various demands on it. Not sure about the noise, it might be the bracket/spring assembly needs a little lube on it but both those comments are made in the assumption you're on about the main belt that drives the PAS, air-con etc?
