  1. Thanks all. I shall buy some of the German ATF. My body repairer who recently did work on the car has some sealant coming in next week and will plug the gap where the roof strip seems to have shrunk - it no longer meets the seal around the windscreen. I'll be interested to see what he uses.
  2. Greetings all. Your advice/input please. (1) What's the current recommendation for ATF? I usually buy from Opie Oils, and may get some engine oil at the same time. (2) The rubber roof strip on the driver's side of my Coupe no longer meets the windscreen, and water is getting into the driver's door pillar. Any idea where I can get a replacement strip? Or, if not. what I can use to plug the gap of about 1 centimetre? Something like Blak-Tak would be good but it needs to be weatherproof. Thanks guys.
  3. LOL. I'm already thinking of other uses, e.g. the draft excluder strip to be fitted to the bottom of my up-and-over garage door. It's supposed to be attached by tiny self-tapping screws, but it would be much easier to stick it on...
  4. Thanks. I don't understand much of what the website says, but it looks like good stuff.
  5. Mine are dropping off - there's only 'Accord' still attached. The others have left a lot of glue residue from the factory - should this be cleaned off, or do I just re-stick the badges on top (after cleaning up a bit)? I'm planning to use Gorilla Glue unless there's something better.
  6. Thanks all for your advice. Yes, the ABS light is now on permanently and doesn't go out after the engine's running. My garage has diagnosed 'Nearside front wheel ABS sensor', so that's going to be replaced. Nothing else to complain about - the car starts first time, every time, and just keeps going. I might even spend a bit on the bodywork as I think I could probably make my money back when/if I sell it. There are so few around now.
  7. Greetings all. I haven't been on here for a while but have still got the Honda. It's five years since I bought it, and it has just reached 150,000 miles. I don't really need it anymore but don't like the idea of parting with it. Both sills had to be welded for the MOT in January, but it just keeps running. However, a problem has just occurred: the ABS light is now on permanently. I had a vague feeling that one of the brakes might be sticking on, but I could be wrong. Will be taking it to the garage tomorrow for them to plug into the OBD, but any ideas what the problem might be? Cheers.
  8. Mine's going into the garage this week for three things to be sorted: exhaust is blowing where the centre section joins the back box; a front sidelamp bulb needs replacing; and one of the rear number plate lamps has broken (rusted?) away and is hanging down over the plate. MOT is in 6 weeks' time, so all this will need to be done. Otherwise it just keeps running - now 20 years old and 149,000 miles. If we get some dry weather over Christmas I'll say thank you by giving it a good clean-up, inside and out.
  9. It was a fifteen-second fix. There's a sort of bump stop in each roof channel (left and right), and the screw attaching one of them was so loose that the whole thing had popped outwards like the points on a railway track, stopping the roof from going further forward and closing.
  10. Yes, confirm that. When manually winding the roof forwards it sticks in the same place.
  11. That was quick Stu! I'll look for that - thanks. I meant to say that it doesn't seem like an electrical issue - the motor is running, but the roof just seems to get stuck. Maybe it's something to do with the runners?
  12. Greetings all. The V6 continues to run and run, but today the roof wouldn't slide all the way closed - it now won't go further forward than about halfway. With a bit of coaxing it nearly closed, but when I tried again it again got stuck halfway. Anyone else had this? For now I've had to put the car in the garage, and the LS400 on the driveway. I can take it to the garage but thought I'd ask for tips, if anyone here has any. Cheers.
  13. Mine drips into the boot too when you open it after the rain. It's one of my grumbles, but not a major problem, especially as the car's now 18 years old.
  14. Update for you all. Big spots of oil (definitely) on the road this morning. Garage says that the oil cooler pipe has rotted through. Special order item, apparently, but they hope to get one and fit it on Friday. Good news is that the engine is bone dry (i.e. no leaks) and oil level still above the minimum. It'll be nice to be back driving the Green Beast - I've missed it this week.
  15. Thanks - I've looked for Stu's original post but couldn't find it.
  16. Oil is definitely darker. Stu, I remember you posting something about a rusting clip that holds a bottom radiator hose in place - something you routinely check/replace on people's cars?
  17. Latest: I don't think it's engine oil. The filter is on tight. There are still a couple of damp spots on the ground under the front of the engine from this morning when I moved the car across the road, and underneath, part of the plastic tray (sump guard?) is still wet. I mopped this up on a wipe, and it doesn't look black enough to be oil or red enough to be ATF. Coolant? There was a rainbow-like effect on the puddle this morning. Or PAS fluid? I'm leaving the car at the garage on Monday but just wondered what you all thought meanwhile. Thanks for your suggestions.
  18. I don't think there has been any rain here today, and I was expecting to see a big oil stain still on the road. This morning it was about six feet long. But now there's not a mark. Does ATF evaporate?
  19. Will check this evening when I get home from work. There was no time this morning. It had rained overnight, and the oil slick (slight exaggeration) looked sort of bluish. But I didn't have time to do anything except move the car and see whether the oil trail followed it - which it did, as if oil was starting to be pumped out again. The oil light went out as normal, but I guess this doesn't mean much.
  20. Big oil leak on the street from the car this morning, and when I moved it a few yards it left a few blobs more. Is this likely to be a failed seal, or the pump? Everything seems dry and oil-free under the bonnet. Car is booked in to the garage next week but I was just wondering how big a job this might be. The car was probably due for an oil change, and it looks like it's trying to do that itself...
  21. I've seen it before around here, but mostly when it was parked on the street. This time the driver saw me!
  22. 8.50 this morning near Roedean Fire Station/Brighton Marina. You: black S-reg V6 coupe, gave me a wave and long thumbs up at the traffic lights. Me: green V-reg V6 Coupe. Thanks for cheering up my morning commute. Are you a member of this forum?

    HI

Welcome Robby. I've got a green one, too.
  24. The member I bought the car from didn't bother getting it repaired because he felt it wouldn't significantly affect the car's value, and at first that's how I felt, too. But I like the car so much that the dent bugs me, so I'm sure I'll get it done some time. Not sure how much the car would be worth, though, even with the repair - it runs very well and looks good but has done 141,000.
