  1. Nice one ??? let us know what you think and upload a few photos , i know ive only just joined but i do enjoy the banter and the recommendations i have had from the owners of these big coupes the correct oil filters wax products preferred oil and advice ???
  2. i know this is as far removed as possible regarding a cooking forum but apparently my son has informed me "thats not a shepherd pie dad thats a right bad boy " ok son .bill you bring the beer its ggggoooddd eating ????
  3. Bill??? . Bill whats are you going on about mate i read your posts on the exhausts and what you gave was advice thats it period , i with everyone else i think agrees with your advice as i do and enjoy your uploads always and i enjoy the banter , so keep doing what your doing which is informing us ???? thats a Order & if that arse gets back about the car like mine on ebay you get the spoiler , i am back in the kitchen now cooking shepherd pie cheers garry ???
  4. Kags . For now just get the exhaust repaired, as we all i think are on the same page , then at a later stage when depending on how long you intend to keep the honda then cross the bridge on the upgrades which suits YOU I have now reached my crossroad on my honda , mechanically mine is there i know this because i have done the work .& parts needed have been replaced ,by myself if i sold it tomorrow i think i would break even not that i would do so yet , however we then move to the second stage of ownership which we all desire we want to make it better ,if i take this route i am then commited to keep the car for a considerable time as the money spent i would never make a profit if i was to sell not that is a priority but it does come into to play .Mine needs a repaint no amount of polish is ever going to get the desired finish fact , then there are the alloys they are showing there age the exhaust which is fine and has years left i would prefer full stainless then there is the body kit and so on at which time i would polish the car put it in the garage with a cover car over it and drive it only on sunny days at about 5 am , and how you ask do i now this ? Because i am living proof of how this story for me always ends . So i am going to just enjoy the car for now and have a good think and then think some more and take comfort in the fact if i park it anywhere NOW and return and it has a scratch or a knock i am not going to return to vimto rip of my shirt turn green ( dont make me angry )
  5. Yes, thats the key is how much the import will determine how much of a bargain it is .the two systems without the induction or manifolds are listed by (speed Daddy ) & Fsk . Which seems a fair price for the stainless grade system ,plus you could place your offer and see, one supplies the gaskets ? or if it is just those joints that are the problem on your stystem try taking your honda to a garage that works on classic cars in your area they will be more intune with your request and repair (replace /sections ) the rear boxes are supported so there is no stress on the those joints, in my experience the main stream types of tyre exhaust centres will want to sell you a mild steel system at a ridiculous price as they are sometimes more sales people than hands on repair people those alloys stick out or not look bloody good ???.i am not keyed up on lowering kits but knowing the japanese there must be a variety of aftermarket option packages let us know how it goes ??? yes that link i think is the all dancing with bells on full exhaust kit , its a lot of money and would be a investment if you intend to keep your honda for many years to come ??? .if not the repair route of your existing system at a reasonable cost or the catt back stainless system
  6. Kag8 your alloys look imense. I have not seen better they suit the colour of the honda silver centre caps spot on, gold caps not sure . I am watching a stainless catt back exhaust from the USA on ebay under £300 inc P&P might be worth a look and send out a question think there are three systems listed one does include manifolds more money but included also is a sports induction kit .fitting is straight forward trust me ,not that i have experience on fitting the honda but have fitted full dual stainless exhausts ,manifolds to rear resonators ???
  7. thank you ??? they fit quite well and they do locate right up to the back box and the tail pipe end sits snuggly inside the inner stainless lip and for the price ,the quality was better than i expected really so i do recommend them as a affordable replacement ???
  8. cheers Stuart. I think i will stick with a black finish alloys and purple rim its not set in stone there are a few local firms that refurbish alloys and offer a paint match ,i am not sure until i have spoken with them if they can incorporate purple in the alloy and the price might rule this out ?i am actively looking for a set aswell so nothing by no means certain i will post when a set is fitted ???
  9. ok stuart ive got before and after . I did not take many before i started to work on old vimto but you can tell the state of the chrome exhaust tips tottaly rusted and unloved i removed the towbar they are useful but on a coupe they look poor ?? it was only used for a small trailer the boot sale size( i did see the trailer at his house ) . a question was asked about towbars for this model and without cutting the bumper ? if you can point me to the right owner i will post the details of the firm that fitted it, its in with the cars history and the official certificate that stays with the car apparently the body kit on these coupes looks just about perfect love them & a nice set of alloys those black alloys on yours stuart do look great ?? in fact all of the cars with after market alloys ive seen on the forum fit the colour of the of vehicles a treat i think with vimto i will go with black alloys if it was silver the mag wires on the one on this forum could not be bettered stunning , ( dont know the owners name i have pressed the like button ) im not a huge fan of the original alloys but a set of these on gumtree at £50 and painted black some days ago i thought looked smart so its a thought i might get mine enamel coated in black with purple on the inner rim if possible ?? We will see cheers garry
  10. Thanks stuart ?? Apologies however andrew is please send a photo of you car ??? . Lets begin sorry hello pete , well apparently if you press two buttons together on this tab it takes a photo of the image your viewing ( alright stop laughing im old ) so he goes the listing page and photos ive just took i can manage that ??? ps i know who stuart is & bill and now pete ive been replying to usenames please reveal yourselves with a name thank you .plus theres bird shit on the car again that needs removing if i hadn't gone out to take photos i would have been oblivious to so there ,well i feel like moaning today
  11. Hi andrew i will upload ebay and find the listing well my son will and i will get him to show the link or photo ( make it so number one ) a bit of captain picard there ? they are really good tail ends full stainless and im sure they came in under £7 inc P&P from china they arrived early and do have a adjustment at either side so fitting and getting a nice cental fit on the exciting tail pipe is straightforward i will upload a few photos later of mine and they do remain stain free?? ,i did consider getting another pair as spares ,but jackie my wife showed me the error of my ways (i dont talk about it )
  12. hi Andrew looks a nice coupe to me??? your s is mint compared to vimto . Mine is never going to win a award unless there is one for turning UP?? at a club meet . But it doesent mean i dont enjoy driving it or polishing it . And your right you can get carried away on a spending spree without the guarantee of a return when selling but i think if i went down that route not sure i would use it as much and then??? still think Aubergine is a nicer colour ( only jocking like all the colours )???
  13. Hi Andrew, yes it was your upload your car looks great and i used your advice on the cleaning and agreed with your story on your honda purchase sorry for the delay i am still finding my way on the site and uploading topics in the incorrect forum no doubt apologies yes is that sods law with both our honda buys travelling to opposite ends , i dont regret the buy at all for what these big hondas cost at present its such a great buy and it will be interesting to see what year they will start be climb in price because it will happen Thanks again
  14. I agree with BN Coupe i have double checked my service history on old vimto , and for reasons unknown to me John cooper Honda replaced the cambelt at just over 40k which seems premature to say the least but i know after research it was down to its reaching the expirey date of the belt and not the miles driven . Moving on i have just returned from the MOT Garage and all is fine with the world ?? A Pass ??Sam the Mot tester asked me to look under my car while it was raised under the ramp , well i was a little puzzled owing to the fact i have spent many hours recently in preparation of MOT day . However sam wanted to show me ,how my honda looked with its skirt raised and in such amazing condition underneath, and that he was fully aware ,that sombody had spent some considerable time cleaning replacing parts and maintaining the vehicle . He said it was as absolutely spotless & knew i took as much pride on the running gear as the exterior .any one who knows me is fully aware i always self deprecate .any how i always recommend, if you have the time the tools ( check out my post your MOT tester will thank you ) i asked about replacing the cambelt as mines showing 89k he went to his computer which said honda recommend changing at 72K or 5/6 years so its on my to do list later .now the MOT does have a advisory on the rear tyres ,& i know some nosey buggers will be straight on the dvla history ?? and yes this was not me being careless i am fully aware both rear tyres have only 4/5k left ,the front having a new pair fitted prior to me purchasing it .but i am looking to upgrade with new alloys and tyres or reconditioned ??? i think kags silver bullet with those mag wires look stunning as does the alloys on bills blue devil or the alloys on stuarts gold arrow apologies for those not mentioned ???and i am actively putting my feelers out for a used front rear skirt . As a side note I am running the engine on Granville semi 10/40 after two engine flushes using halfords semi & STP addative as the flush and it runs sweet .the transmission has only recently had one change but i will keep you posted when i have replaced the fluid totally from kendall as a bloody expensive flush to smith & allan , but if anything it went like lightining on the run home transmission warmed up fully of course ??? i am tempted by a full cat back stainless exhaust from the good old usa check out ebay if memory serves its about £300 inc p&p not sure about import duty on these i have only experience on aviation prints duty from overseas but think there will be extra to pay will keep you posted and i will upload photos of me fitting the bugger ??
  15. I was reluctant to travel the 230 mile round trip to look at the one owner blue v6 . This green v6 is showing 560 mile round trip never gonna happen
  16. Stu . ?? looks fine low miles the damage on the vinyl section of the drivers seat seems the achilles heal on these cars, although mine is not bad there, mine is the vinyl panel that has the seat forward lever that has damage?
  17. No Kag8?? .Not me i noticed the advert pulled . I had hoped simon might have sent more photos regarding bodywork and i did email him stating my 230 mile round trip would depend on this . If it was nearer i would have made a call to view & test drive and brought £700 The servivce history and being one ownership is superb but body work sounded a little suspect as every panel on the vehicle had issues scuffs scratches ect And vimto is coming along nicely regarding the paint work , ???. I am looking for another vehicle but i do like the full body kit look on the honda i know you can hopefully pick up the panels needed , will see how it goes . If not a honda it will be a coupe ??
  18. My word seven . Well with the cost of insurance and tax and maintenance on seven cars . Bugger the worry about MPG and knee jerk worries about transmission ?? Purchase that blue honda and spray the bugger green you know it makes sense its a steal ???
  19. well Gentlemen i confess i did make enquiries earlier today regarding the Blue V6 Honda coupe priced at £900 FSH one owner & only 70 k on Autotrader i was contemplating purchasing it myself (dont tell the wife for gods sake or i will be sleeping on the settee.) .so i sent a message & simon whos father is selling the vehicle he kindly replied and provided detailed information to the questions i put forward. full honda service history at thames ditton from new last serviced 6 months ago new battery fitted .again at honda thames ditton one owner his father .cambelt needs changing he phoned honda quoted him £250 ( but i think plus water pump budget £300 plus the vat . Body work ,welĺ paintwork together with every panel has imperfections??? but no dents ( its listed as excellent ) i have asked for more photos which i was told is difficult due to not living near to his father presumably and i have asked for a figure £ he would not be insulted by taking into account the cambelt & body issues we shall see . I think it would be a super buy for someone my personal thoughts needs to be around £ 600 your thoughts please , and no ive not been on the ale thats later tonight ??
  20. Hello Antharro all us sapiens are different which makes for a happy world . Well you have a criteria which is good you have a colour you prefer and the later model 2001 . You have at your disposal a fine group of like minded people who will help you on your search , one thought if you find a suitable model fsh, low miles , however the colour is not what you would like a repaint might be the way forward if you intend to keep the honda for some time , i have only recently joined the honda 6 after purchasing my honda, stuart has been a true gentleman & will Answer all your questions on this marque & all the members have been first class . One note the gold badges & exhaust tips i understand was a option on the honda brochure tick box as was bodykit spoiler ,coachline strips ans so on , but i feel confident most of these are available on the second hand market .Regarding alloys i have only recently found a upload on the forum showing a super silver honda with a fantastic set of alloys multi spoke it sets the car a treat ??? or there are compatible honda alloys with bigger rims and look smashing ??? regarding your future purchase Check out the usual sites ebay autotrader gumtree the later is advertising a green v6 B,ham area hope this helps and welcome ,forgive me for saying ,if this purchase will only be taking place after the sale of your vehicles not sure i would be to active LOOKING now wait until you have sold your car/cars , take it from me ,bloody sods law will come into play which will come in the form of a advert listing "a retired doctor selling due to poor eye sight his beloved Green V6 FSH One Owner with Gold badges & exhaust trips " youve been warned ?????
  21. I have to confess i am very interested in a buyers criteria before a purchase is made , speaking for myself in all cases i have never made attempts to establish the cars MPG prior to a purchase , i had no idea until reading these uploads that three auto transmissions options came with the V6 honda accord & that the early 1998/1999 had the most failures, this together with no sport mode option , would this have made me question my purchase never ,and this is not due to being obtuse, there are plenty of these big coupes still on the roads and taking into account the numbers imported its down to reliability and lets not forget it is a honda . for me the look of the vehicle makes a big difference engine size is further down than say leather interior but i have to say dual exhaust does look rather pleasing and so on i can confirm you can purchase a coupe in the low hundreds and a LONG test drive will pick up defects,& a visual inspection & service record , never feel embarrassed to take the engine dipstick out and look at the colour of the engine oil & transmission dipstick and smell the thing if it is black and smells the chances are the owner has neglected services and wants shut so walk away unless you are able to do the work youself and this being the case put in a low offer , we have all heard the one about there are other people due to look at the car chances are it's just YOU, the youngest coupe is 16 years old , so hold out for the colour you prefer , spec wise most are fully loaded i was luckily enough to find mine with the fitted coachline side protection strips which i feel is a bonus as the doors being a coupe are large and this together with careless drivers in car parks is a bonus l can confirm you will not be following another coupe into the carpark unless its a honda club day , this coupe is a honda spares are plenty full, for the price these coupes cost if it dies buy another and strip the other for spares best of luck for you purchase and if it helps theres a rather nice V6 blue coupe 70K on autotrader for £900 FSH WELL , what you waiting for ???
  22. Bloody hell bill you made me laught nice one ??? i had hair like that once i was no more than seventeen i went into my local shop a bloke commented to his friend "" she has a nice face "the other replied "yes but she is flat chested "" it took a while for the penny to drop i was the focus of there conversation , i will skip the rest ,well with the series one p6 3.5 only option was auto wonderful cars P5 included which i have never sadly owned , that old tub of white grease which owes its state to some idiot not checking he had removed it from under the car before lowering his trolkey jack ,it happened some years back but reminds me to slow down and check everything is removed from under the car that includes ME ???
  23. Cheers bill , you have the easy aerosol, ?? i have a two litre pot of white grease and and gloves to apply ,i prefer your method ,??? i will post a few of my old series one P6 rovers ( your to young to remember these bill )ive owned over the years one the brute arden green with the buick 3.5 tuned and the white buick 3.5 with rear head rests which if i remember i paid over £200 for the headrests about 20 years ago as being like hens teeth my wife was not best pleased ive spent a bit at ray weekly & wadhams and the likes unfortunately my images are on photo of the cars ive owned pre phone tablet and computer as being an old bugger so with the help of my children i will get around to it before to long ??
  24. Cheers stu .? when it was last serviced the honda technicians had applied grease to the runners ,on the sunroof the locks and door hinges , again its something ive always done myself when building or servicing cars i tend to use three types of grease multi ep2 lithium, copper grease, or white grease depending on the maintenance which extends to coating all the brake lines ,its a little extreme but it has served me well regarding ease of replacing worn or perished components on vehicles , i flushed the engine twice with oil before replacing with the grade that sitting in vimto now and seriously thought of dropping the sump cleaning and replacing with fresh gaskit .which i might still do ? ,its something my dad used to do and as a kid i would watch him working and learn he rebuilt a old ford ashly kit car rebuilt a sunbeam alpine mk3 GT to a series one P6 3.5 and and so on, and every spanner or socket he used was cleaned and placed in the correct tray top man i love him
  25. Cheers AhsyV6. I agree i have used Autoglm for years together with most leading brands and no complaints untill the recent purchase , i have no idea what was in the bottle i purchased but it was very poor indeed ,and stu makes a valid point regarding the leather cleaner & i agree 100% i will not be using Autoglm leather cleaner again Autoglm resin polish gloss coat and tyre black i still use and are ?very very good but the leather cleaner shockingly dire???i will check out your posts ???, i can recommend connolly food hide after the leather is cleaned i usually leave it overnight at which time the majority has soaked into the leather and a light buffing the next morning brings super results ?
