Administrators hughezee Posted January 17, 2015 Administrators Report Posted January 17, 2015 Just an insight into the procedure of cleaning the idle air control valve more commonly referred to as the IAC valve. Some of the items you may need to replace if cleaning the valve is successful so my shopping list for this job is as follows: x1 16176P8AA01 GASKET, THROTTLE BODY (NIPPON LEAKLESS) x1 16177P8AA01 GASKET B, THROTTLE BODY x1 16456P8AA01 GASKET, ROTARY AIR CONTROL VALVE x2 938920502508 SCREW-WASHER, 5X25 The pictures are pretty self explanatory for the avid DIYer but should you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask… I also noticed the car was consuming oil (no leaks) and I think it’s pretty clear the PCV valve is toast and is allowing oil to be consumed more on replacing the PCV can be found here: http://honda6.ipbhost.com/index.php?/topic/22-check-your-pcv-valve-epic-fail/ Using carb/intake cleaner to clean the chamber of the valve, I’ve found release oil AKA WD40 works pretty well if left for 20mins and clean off the black mess with brake cleaner... Now if your are like me you will remember how to put everything back together. 😋 Now test obviously once everything is reassembled to a point where you can safely start the car, coolant topped off at the highest point of the throttle to expel any air. As above pic shows I left off the trim and cruise cable until I was happy the problem was resolved before reinstating everything. All sorted now and time for nice warm drink, it's freezing outside... 🥶 1

Founding Member Cryistic Posted January 18, 2015 Founding Member Report Posted January 18, 2015 Good tutorial Stu, I never removed the Throttle body when I worked on purple Haze, your way looks easier. Do you replace the throttle body gasket? 1
Administrators hughezee Posted January 18, 2015 Author Administrators Report Posted January 18, 2015 Only replace them if you need to it's a pain to clean off, although I had leaks on one before and wasn't prepared for it, liquid gasket didn't work Anyway I only ended up using two new gaskets one between the intake manifold and throttle body and the rubber one for the IAC Valve, the spacer one wasn't disturbed 1
