Administrators hughezee Posted September 9, 2016 Administrators Report Share Posted September 9, 2016 This being my second Honda Shuttle i was always suspicious regarding this ones aerial as it never seemed to extend to the length I remember and I naturally assumed it needed some lube then after inspecting I noticed the mount was actually spilt/ cracked so I thought just replace it and move on So just a few shots of the process and lets just say I am very grateful the coupe doesn't have a similar arrangement as some can be an absolute nightmare to install. Removing the interior trim was relatively straight forward and don't forget you will need to remove the radio Looking up from the drivers side foot well assuming your shuttle/odyssey is RHD Something to mention the new aerial didn't come with new clips so tackle this job with care so you don't break anything Thankfully the shuttle wasn't to bad at all and Installation was complete within an hour and now I have much better reception even at half mast also more importantly the annoying rattle I had on the dash as gone, so a brilliant result all round
Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted September 17, 2016 Moderators Report Share Posted September 17, 2016 Good work there Stu - seems a lot of work from the pictures but if it was only an hour then it's an hour well spent! It's surprising how much a new aerial can improve matters simply because the connections between the sections of the mast aren't worn and give better conductance of the RF (Radio Frequency) which travels down the outer skin of the aerial so any slight breaks in the continuity can have drastic effects on signal transfer from atmosphere to radio.
Administrators hughezee Posted September 17, 2016 Author Administrators Report Share Posted September 17, 2016 Thanks buddy, the shuttle is always by the book so the leisurely pace goes out of window as its the main family motor I'm grateful it works even fully closed now, less chance of some filthy swine bending it
Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted September 18, 2016 Moderators Report Share Posted September 18, 2016 One of the advantages of a fully automatic electric aerial - it retracts when the radio is switched off!

Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted September 18, 2016 Moderators Report Share Posted September 18, 2016 Funnily enough, the 827 coupé has an electric aerial and where the signal booster is on the saloon counterpart there is an audio amplifier instead. Also on the Accord coupé i had, that had an aerial on the rear wing as well - can't remember if it was full auto electric or what now but i think it was. I've just realised (scarily!) that it's 11 years since i owned that car!
