  1. +1 for Falkens. Got a set of four on mine. Very quiet.
  2. Thank you for digging that out - very interesting. You always expect some errors but I didn't know registrations in the database were so inconsistent. Naively I assumed they'd all be entered fully...or at least spelt correctly! 🤦‍♂️
  3. Yeah, the prestige is the one with the front end same as what Peter linked to above. But there was also a restyle on the front end of the regular one around 2005/2006. Take a look at the pics on this page and you'll see what I mean: https://www.amayama.com/en/catalogs/honda/elysion The prestige also has a slightly different interior I think, whereby you can't scooch from driver's seat to passenger seat like you can in the non-prestige ones.
  4. That is a good point - I don't. But if we apply your man maths the camper bits won't add up to anything like the weight of a couple of passengers, which we can reasonably assume the car's suspension is designed to cope with, it formerly being a 7- or 8-seater. The fibreglass roof adds a few kilos to the metal roof after gas struts and finishing are taken into the equation. And inside is negligible - lightweight metal frame and upholstery for the bed and a few bits of veneered chipboard for the kitchenette, empty plastic water tank...versus six of those heavy seats. It doesn't sit any lower when it was parked next to stock ones either where it was converted. I will definitely enquire about a weighbridge to find out for sure though. 👍 So unless the kerb weight is a wild surprise I don't think it needs any upgrades on coils or dampers, but I may peruse the Japanese auction sites for some ARBs and see how I get on. They'll have more of an effect on body roll than coilovers or custom spring setup. And in the meantime I'll adjust my expectations. 😂
  5. Yes indeed, leaning in the corners a bit. I'm not surprised though given the size of the car and what it's for. I did test drive one that hadn't been converted and it was very similar, so I don't think the weight is the driving factor although I think you're right that it will be affecting it a bit. It is on stock suspension but springs and dampers won't cure lean much. ARBs address torsional rigidity in corners whereas springs and dampers mainly address ride comfort and height and tyre contact when moving. Tyres seem to be wearing evenly and ride is very plush and there are no signs of leakage, so I think they're good. The ARB bushes actually look very good, as do the drop links. I've got to address the front lower wishbone front bushes as they look like they'll start to crack soon, then an alignment after that should tick that box too. Plus I've never had a car this size before so I think I'm just getting used to it. My previous daily was my car with the rebuilt suspension running polybushes, uprated ARBs, arms, links, roll centre adjusters etc. I'd be thrown out the seat before it started leaning! Corners flatter than a pancake. Yeah I'll bet with the V6 you're not far behind in the straights!
  6. Is stealth mode just black? 🙈 I've never seen another one in the colour of yours. Big fan of your wheels too. I don't know what the wheels are but I've never seen another Elysion with them (on the FB group etc). They're 17s, and have Honda and Enkei stamped on the inside. The 17s were an option on the car (G edition) so I assume the original owner - a lovely gentleman golfer judging by the photo left in the centre console 😂 - either bought them as an extra or pinched them from another Honda. I really like them either way! I had roof channels fitted to the pop-top roof, then the bars fit in and slide along the channels. This does mean the channels can never be removed - they're bolted to the roof and sealed all the way round. They're full aluminium, made by prime design - who normally do vans. But I carry all sorts on it - bikes, boxes, boats etc - so I'm not worried about not being able to remove them. Seats - yup, so it's a four-seater. Which I know some will think ruins some of the appeal of the Elysion, but there's only me, my other half, a dog and an imminent baby so there's still bags of room for us. Previous subframe was essentially crumbling like corn flakes - very rusty! Got an entire replacement that was still structurally sound and upgraded most parts, followed by wire brush back to bare metal and three coats of primer, two of stone chip protection and three of Hammerite. So if I detect even a spec of rust on it then it shall be thrown to the fires of hell. 🔥 Have thought the Elysion could do with uprated ARBs as it is very squishy in corners but I doubt anywhere makes them?
  7. Here's a front pic And here's a pic of the conversion on the inside (not the best quality I'm afraid) I think it's a great car, nothing really like it in the UK domestic car market. And I've always liked cars that are a bit different. It's comfy and so easy to drive given its size. The infotainment/sat nav unit isn't great, but I'm yet to come across a decent replacement other than a simple bluetooth unit wired up as an aux input (which is what I've got). And for what it's worth, the Altezza subframe rebuild:
  8. That's the main reason I went for the 2.4. Aftermarket support is much better for the K-series engines than the Js (which is what the V6s are). The V6 owners will defend theirs to the hilt, which is fair enough, but the 2.4 used in the Elysion shares many parts with the K20s and 24s that tuners like - blocks, plugs, coils, water pumps etc etc and has a strong reputation for being very reliable, which the V6 does not share. Then again, they're both Hondas so it's unlikely you'll get a huge amount of problems with either. 😁 Some V6 owners appear to have had trouble with timing issues and the variable cylinder management, but I've not heard of heavy oil consumption on a non-performance variant of the K24 mentioned further up here and have been around K-series engines for quite a while like others on here. Research I did before buying suggested VCM makes this much more of an issue on the V6s on the bank that gets deactivated (see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVGCQ-oUB90 ). Newer ones may be less likely to suffer because I think piston rings were changed on later ones to reduce leakage into the combustion chamber. Like I said, V6 owners absolutely love them. My K24 is converted to a camper and even with the extra weight of a pop-top roof, water tank, kitchenette and canoe on the roof I don't have to drive it hard. If you want to drive a car quickly then an Elysion isn't the one to buy. 😂
  9. Hey everyone, I'm not all that new to Hondas but I am new to Honda 6. I've got a 2005 RR1 Elysion converted to a camper. Had about 40k miles on it when I got it, and it's probably still on about 41k now because of a year of lockdowns. 🙈 I've always been into JDM cars. Dream car would probably be the 1st gen NSX but I need to start playing the lottery to make that even remotely possible. 😅 My other car is a Lexus IS gen 1 Sportcross (aka Toyota Altezza Gita) which is going through the latter stages of a total rear subframe replacement. Only about 500 left on UK roads but I can't find the Elysion on howmanyleft, presumably because it was never sold new here. Anyone got any ideas how many Elysions are out there? Joe
