Administrators hughezee Posted December 5, 2015 Administrators Report Share Posted December 5, 2015 Welcome to Project Black, member Rob AKA Coupeman recently acquired this sweet driving coupe and has commissioned me to bring it back from the brink. During the in the process of the restoration we may decide to remove the fogs and body-kit to help with funding the build, giving it a more stock appearance. The bonus is I have most parts needed including the damaged interior parts, so I couldn't refuse 2
Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted December 5, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted December 5, 2015 Someone has nicked the spare and left a pram wheel in the boot!!! Looks a lot of work but will be worth it in the end.

Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted December 5, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted December 5, 2015 I just spotted a couple of things on the back end - gold badges and is that an aftermarket, stainless steel exhaust???

Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted December 6, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted December 6, 2015 The badges look gold on my monitor but if it get either close up or further back they go silver. The joys of TFT monitors!!! Had another look through the photos and saw the rear underneath shot - shame it's not a stainless system! Perhaps we should find some other tips for Geoff to protect those! I think 50mm is the right size for the tailpipes, here's a few that would fit :http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2060353.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X50mm+exhaust+chrome+trims.TRS0&_nkw=50mm+exhaust+chrome+trims&_sacat=0 There's a pair of square tips for about £7.50 plus P&P that might look nice on that list...........................

I've seen some in Halfrauds and they just don't look good enough quality for Purple, he deserves the best. The chrome tips on Project Black look ideal so yes, can you keep them to one side please for me? Thanks for the link Dave, sooo many around isn't there? I'll keep the link, just in case.
Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted December 6, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted December 6, 2015 There's loads around Geoff, those are the specific ones to fit on 50mm outside diameter pipes but you can get "universal fit" ones that have what is basically a large exhaust clamp in it and can fit pipes from 30mm to 130mm or something. Those of course would look stupid so i tried to leave them out of the search.
Administrators hughezee Posted December 17, 2015 Author Administrators Report Share Posted December 17, 2015 I Hope you like the quick video intro to project black, although I did miss a couple of things the electric drivers seat is broken only one adjustment works and the front N.S wing is damaged with a spilt in the bumper.I have most if not everything I need to bring the motor back from the brink so keep an eye out for some DIY posts Wish me luck

Founding Member Mazda Man Posted December 19, 2015 Founding Member Report Share Posted December 19, 2015 Excellent, what did we do without the wibbly wobbly internet, eh? Project Black Dawn (Rise of the Coupe) will look stunning when finished and all highly polished and gleaming. Some subtle tint on the side and rear glass would really set it off. Likey Likey.
Moderators Laird_Scooby Posted December 19, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted December 19, 2015 Tinting the rear glass would definitely look good on a black car, especially if the front glass could go a shade darker too while keeping to the legal minimum of 70% light transmission.

Administrators hughezee Posted December 24, 2015 Author Administrators Report Share Posted December 24, 2015 I was hoping to chill out a little from today but I just couldn't stop thinking about that transmission in need of fresh fluid and the advantages of leaving it to marinade over the festive period Old black fluid out and circulated some cheapo fluid with a banana peel being slippier and I can feel an improvement already and so far its appears the engine mounts are knackered exaggerating the feel the oil filled mount on the o.s has long since drained out and the vacuum system ones are not holding pressure, so another American import parts order is building
Administrators hughezee Posted December 27, 2015 Author Administrators Report Share Posted December 27, 2015 Little progress update: I fitted my old engine mount to the car and instantly a 50% improvement on shifting into reverse, hardly surprising the old one was the worst I've seen so far Also the bonnet cable is very stretched due to a sticking mechanism anyway freed it off and bonnet closes beautifully think I will still be replacing it even though its shuts OK, it will be sods law the cable gives up and snaps
Founding Member Mazda Man Posted December 28, 2015 Founding Member Report Share Posted December 28, 2015 If the cable does snap then how would you get the bonnet up.....or is it TOP SECRET, NEED TO KNOW BASIS?
