  1. Yep, it started out as a grinding/whirling sound. Thought it was alternator at first until I took belt off and reached down to the compressor and felt lots of play in the pulley. It started to stick so bad that my belt snapped on way home from work. Now I've got the compressor out it's so seized it's hard to spin the pulley. Bearings maybe?
  2. Hey chaps the pulley/clutch on my compressor is shot. I've taken the compressor out and I am bypassing with a shorter belt for now. I am struggling to find a replacement unit or clutch. My coupe is a 1999 which has slightly different mounting bolt locations than the newer models as for as I can tell? Best I've found so far is a oem unit on ebay from spain for like £120. The ac was leaking before clutch broke - as far as I can tell from the receiver / drier. Don't want ac job to turn into money pit 😜. Any advice on what my options are would be appreciated.
  3. Very good point, definitely an oversight. I'm gonna be putting on a missing wheel arch cover and also maybe coating the underside with some anti rust product - I will drill some holes then. 👍
  4. Tbh when they told me it failed on corrosion, I thought it was gonna be some bad rust I spotted where one of the o/s rear control arms meets the body. Which I thought would be far more of a safety concern that the sill - but hey I'm not the expert. I might get a pic of that rust to see what you guys think. I'm in Bristol so a little bit of a drive to pick it up from Newton Abbot. I'm in the Torbay area quite often as part of my lorry driving job - nice place to go!
  5. Recently got the car through my first mot with it. It failed on corrosion on the o/s rear sill. A chap working at the garage was a furloughed airline pilot to my surprise. Anyways he took these pics of the repairs I thought I'd share.
  6. Hi guys hope all is well. Took the coupe out for a 400 mile round trip to north wales to see the in-laws, drove lovely - a far more comfortable trip than my old car. I have had no issues with car apart from having to top up PSF every now and then. I'm 90% sure it was leaking from the power steering pressure switch. Finally got round to fitting my replacement part: This is how I had the two 17mm spanners set out - one on the switch and one on the high pressure line. Using one hand on each spanner and alot of force I managed to free the part. Old and new. New one installed. The part is NOT OEM, i got it cheap from china. Fingers crossed this fixes it - I'll let you guys know 👍.
  7. Thanks for the input guys. 👍 Have had a week off work so managed to clean the car up a bit. I have re-gassed the ac and thats working now (after putting in stop-leak first). And also have changed the pollen filters thanks to the guide here. I'm kinda of glad they were dirty - after the work it takes to get to them! lol. As for the PSF leak, i think its coming from the power steering pressure switch... I can reach down to it and have plenty of oil on my fingers after. I've got a non-genuine one on order from china. Has anyone heard of these leaking on the coupes?
  8. Hi all this is the accord coupe i picked up just over a week ago. Y Yiiikkes Interior is in better nic. Coastal car! Hope the rust isnt a problem! Sorry some of the pics a lil dark, might retake some new ones. So far very pleased with the car, drives nice. Plenty of scratches on it, pic above being worst offender 😒. No problems until today when I noticed an oil patch under the car, looks like its coming from the rack and pinion unit/bellow - ill have to investigate further. The car had one owner from new up until 2018ish when it was sold to the dealer i bought it off. Not sure how long the dealer had it for sale for but he did say he had some people asking if he would deliver the car- which he wouldn't do. I was impressed all the comforts were working - heated seats, electric adjustable seat etc. Only thing that doesn't work is the AC which i'm guessing just needs to be re-gased. Paid £700 tell me what u think! 🤐
  9. Hi folks, picked up the car up from Newton Abbot few days ago. So far very happy with it! Saw it on auto trader for £750 150k miles on the clock. Got it for £700 still alittle steep maybe? I am coming from driving a 2011 Renault kangoo, fancied a bit of a change and saw this beauty. It has some scratches on it and and some rust by the exhaust but seems to drive well. Haven't really had time to do much with it yet apart from order replacement clips for passender seat back cover, which fell off pretty much straight away. Is there any thing in particular I should check/Change straight away? Thanks for any wisdom!
