  1. Laird_Scooby, appreciate the insight. Don't know if the reciever/dryer has been changed by the previous owner and lazy to check the services papers since they're in german which i don't understand anyway..

But even tho i never used the a/c since i got the car i think i will replace it during the a/c maintenance as a safety measure. If i correctly understand the last part the only circumstances when the compressor oil has to be replaced is leakage or disasembling ?

A.C refrigerant and PAG46 oil refresh today

Hi there, i spoke with a technician that does only car conditioning stuff and he told me that except under certain circumstances compressor does not need any kind of oil maintenance as refill, flush and replacement like we do with engines or gearboxes.

I'm not well aware of airconditioning stuff so what's the deal with this pag46 oil ? Does our compressor have any plugs for drain and refill ? Didn't checked yet but is this ac compressor oil change mentionned somewhere in the Honda manual service and repair ?

Now i have another question, in order to have two lights it is possible to add another 14v bulb to the existing ashtray bulb wires ? I mean can two bulbs draw power from a single 12v and ground wire without causing issues ?

I'm going to pick up some parts in the next coming days. Does anyone have an idea if i can do that without any issue ?

  4. Whenever i can improve the cooling of my electronic devices i just do it. I've done this for my amplifiers, monitor speakers heatsinks and external soundcard ( heatsinks only not fan ) and etc..

Another two reasons is that i wanted this very specific head unit, it's a non premium brand and may be extremely difficult to get if discontinued. So to preserve its life as much as i can and because quality may be questionable i though adding a fan could only benefit. Second reason i may move soon to another country where weather can be extremely hot.

  5. Checked this morning, ashtray bulb don't light up on position I but does when lights are turned on so you where right. So this source won't work for my purpose. Like i said in one of my message i'll use a usb port with 3 output and port with qualcomm 3.0 ( 12v/1.5a ) will be dedicated for the fan.

Firstly it is a 12v source not 14v the 14v bulb is just for longevity.

Ah very intersting, thanks for confirming the 12v source.

Since you were prepared to protect a relatively inexpensive fan with a 12v converter, a low amp fuse would be a good start?

Thing is i just wanted to be cautious in case it was 14v on the source which thankfuly it isn't like you mention. So I didn't want to reduce the lifespan of the fan and have to replace it every and so, plus avoiding the process of removing the radio again etc.. For this matter i'll use a Noctua fan for their quality.

So the purpose of the fuse you suggest is only to protect the fan ?

All the interior instrument clusters, climate control, clock, ashtray illumination or backlights only come on when I switch the side/ headlights lights on, maybe yours is different?

I don't smoke so never use the ashtray, but from what i remember and if not mistaken, the ashtray bulb was always on but i may be wrong..my ashtray is off the car right now. I should try to plug it in and check it again. If like you said it turn on when lights are on then it won't be the best option for sure.

Edit : When i say always on i mean even lights turned off.

  7. After some thoughs, if i'm not mistaken our 12V outlet give power only from acc to start, not when off, correct me if i'm wrong, otherwise i'll check once i get to the car. Now what i could do is buying another usb port with 3 outputs. Two would be 5v 2.4a for other stuff that i need and the third would be a qualcom 3.0 with the possibility to output 12V / 1.5a. In this case i could use this particular port for the fan. I guess would be much easier to setup this way and no need for fuse etc.., your thoughs ?

Again don't know what continious voltage those wires give but isn't using 12v on 14v source reduce the life span overall ? Yes i though about using a source where it works only when the radio is on.

Is the fuse an absolute necessity in this case and if so why ? and what is a spur on the cigarette lighter ?

Ok i searched for the spur signification, no i can't since i'll use the cigarette lighter as a double usb port.

Edit : The ashtray bulb is working from position I to II, so it should be good no ? Why did you mention "until you switch the car lights on", don't understand what the lights have to do in this. Can you elaborate ?

  9. Hello everyone, i plan to install a 12v 40mm fan on my 2 din head unit. Note that i'm not going to use the complete ashtray trim anymore and relocate the cigar lighter somewhere else. Since the ashtray bulb wouldn't be useful anymore i thought to pick up power from the bulb wires to power my fan ( see picture ). Thing is the bulb is listed as 14v but i don't know how much voltage the wires give and if the voltage is constant or not. Any  idea ?

If i can't get 12v stable from this source i though to get a voltage converter, something like input 8-36v to output 12v 1a. Problem is some converters are listed as AC/DC and others as DC/DC and i'm totally green on this matter. In case i can't pick up directly from the bulb power source which converter type should i choose bewteen both ?

    Any input would be appreciated.

Doe's look strange in the coupe 😧 maybe the owner was a fan of the 69 dodge charger, definitely not factory you can see sections of the original & reupholstered parts.

Regards the boot trim some have it some don't, I would assume you still have the clip holes on yours and you could still fit one if you wanted?

Very possible, now that i look more closely and if not a light effect we can see the difference in leather color between the shoulders level and the bottom parts.

As for the trim boot didn't pay attention if i have those clip holes but i'll check out of curiosity. Still wondering why some got this trim and others not and can't really see how much beneficial this trim could be..

  11. What is going on here ?! I've never saw such interior before, ever. Even the lifting 01-02 didn't have a interior like this. I thought the owner may have change his interior but to me it seems unlikely, looks factory. Do anyone have seen this before ? Btw it's ugly.. 🤣

Does anyone know if the stereo that's in there would just swap for a more modern unit as its a face off one that's in currently?

You can change your radio unit by any standard 1 din or 2 din size head unit. If you go 2 din you will just have to relocate your headlights buttons elsewhere. You'll also probably need an iso harness conversion and if going 2 din a metra kit or size fit facsia but those are sometimes included with the head unit but not always.

It's basically the Achilles heal of these cars if not fully looked after and since we haven't owned them from early on there's not a lot we can do.

I've seen lots of reports of gearbox failures and being critisized. But like you pointed out i think it has more to do with not regular mainteance from the beginning rather than a design or quality issue.

    who needs a new car?

Tell this to politics. People who keep their cars for years are those who polute less but yet the most annoyed and reprimanded. Running gigantic industrial facilities, making a new model every 2 year and customers changing cars every 3 to 5 is more ecologic...

There is no rationality when it comes to profit, 🤡 and 💰 rules the world, they'd prostitute their mother for their own interest.

No need to say thanks, hundreds of parts listed for the coupe don't actually fit, it is the CG8 CG9 body codes that confuse them. The UK built accord is more commonly identified as a CH7, in other countries CG8 or CG9.

You are right notice that a lot too. Despite i checked on various sites for the cross reference and try to be sure it was somehow right but still..they got it all wrong. Reason i said " if correct " cause i'm usually not confident at those cross reference for the reason you explained. Also for my motor i only use oem parts so another reason at being bad at aftermarket cross referencing parts 💩 Next time i'll be more cautious as i don't want to mislead anybody into their purchase.

Hi just signed up to ask for your help my dad has just brought a 2008 honda elysion prestige 3.5 v6 in pearl white. awesome car very much let down by the stereo and nav. So stupidly I talked him into trying a Chinese android unit as it was supposed to be plug and play! What a mistake that was. So queue lots of Google searches and I have managed to get 90% of the way there it turns on and you can hear it but I was really hoping to get steering wheel controls working. Are they resistance based on this model or is it canbus? How do you tell the difference? Also I'm needing the reverse switch for the reverse camera I'm running a new camera and lead for that so I just need the reverse switch cable. I have so far removed so many modules for tvs no longer present and I'm guessing Toll modules soo many things removed. So hoping someone can help me just get the last few bits sorted and it's a success.

    Cheers Carl

For the steering wheel controls it's usually the wires KEY 1 and KEY 2. For the reverse camera to engage you need to source it directly to the reverse tail light.

  17. Thanks for the insight, i finally ordered my kit of ultrasonic sensors. I'll use 2 in rear inside the license plate bumper frame on each corner. For the front not decided yet where i could install them. If i can't found a good spot i'll not install them, to me the rear are more important and could deal with them only.
